I'd disagree, Hymns and Arias is about sport, about a trip to watch rugby, Yma o Hyd is very political, and it's wrong too because Macsen Wledig did not leave a place called Wales, he left Britannia, Wales did not exist, he ruled over the whole of the Islands. He was pronounced Emperor by his troops after a victory over the Picts and Scots in the North.
Hymns and Arias is a Welsh song but it's nowhere near nationalist, it doesn't do politics...

‘Wledig’ is a welsh word you divot…..
Wales at the time covered all of Lloegr as well.
Lloegr derives from purportedly poetic words meaning "lost land".
So a larger Wales certainly existed and the people certainly spoke a form of Welsh.
After the Angles and Saxons arrived the land area for Wales was the western part only.
