| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Yep. I do have a spot for Newcastle ,born out of I or going there in the fifties . I’ve been many times to the north east and love it there The only place in the UK I would have moved to when younger It’s beautiful, big skies ,incredible be@ches and Newcastle city has a sizeable music history . The Geordie folk are border line nutters ,in. Good way. When I took missus there last , we ordered a meal ,in Wetherspoons ,on riverside ( we’re not snobs). Took a good 10 mins to give order as the fella serving noted my smart SCFC jumper and started to talk incessantly . When we played them in the PL, stayed in Gosforth Park and the welcome was, Have a lovely time here Mr L apart from when we trash you at St James .

It’s a bloody long way from Swansea for sure . Had neighbours,in Killay, when Reyrolle at the Abbey had hundreds of engineers working there l Reyrolle were based in Hebburn . Parts if New Aston is pretty grim,as befits a former shipbuilding city ,but north of the old mining towns like Ashington, the scenery is just awesome .You have the Farne islands and the incredible wildlife boat trips and my fav place of all,Lindisfarne. Pure magic. They have a few castles there too Inland ,the skies are huge and Kielder a must visit . Seas freezing there though ,even in summer .

I felt pleased for Newcastle last night, but I can't say my experience in that city has been quite so positive. Years ago when I worked in Dundee, I travelled down to see the 1981 FA Cup 5th round tie against Exeter City, a team I followed for a while when I lived in Devon. The City fans were squeezed into a small corner near the Gallowgate end. Right from the start they were showered with coins (just copper I'm afraid) - one hitting me on the head. The Geordies eased off a bit when Alan Shoulder put them ahead in the 2nd half, but went ballistic when Exeter equalised in the 87th minute. The City fans had to be kept in the ground for 20 minutes or so and were then marched under police escort to a suburban station where the special train was waiting, all the time being followed by a Geordie mob shouting about how they were going to walk the replay. I was told to stay in line by Old Bill when I tried to leave to go to the mainline station for return to Scotland, but managed to slink away once the crowd thinned. I'm afraid that experience has rather diminished my love for Newcastle fans. I couldn't go to the replay, but was delighted when Exeter won 4-0. [Post edited 8 Jan 11:12]

I remember being disappointed with our support at Stamford Bridge the night we beat Chelsea 0-2 in our 1st leg semi. It certainly wasn’t at the level that we took away to most matches in that era. Great memories though.
