January 2025 transfer window hopes & facts 11:08 - Jan 3 with 21590 views | CrashBandicoot | Apologies if there is a transfer thread I'm opening a thread for the January transfer window which has now opened. Who should be a potential signing for us and who should move on either via loan or permanently? I've heard Kyrell Lisbie & Gus Scott Morriss mentioned as potential targets but could they potentially make the jump from NL to L2? Some players do but others don't. Plus actual transfers that we bring in & out can also be mentioned here.

We know they have their favourites, and for some reasons Goodliffe was not one of them. Disappointed.

Not done his chances much good ny saying, when interviewed that playing at Sourhend was great because of the fan base and felt when playing for Colhester it was like playing during Covid!

I think that was a post by a scummer pretending to be Goodliffe. That’s what is being said on the official forum. Sounds about right. Couldn’t imagine Goodliffe actually saying that.

I’m sure he’d rather be starting regularly, but I hope Read doesn’t go out on loan, he’s far too valuable to us coming off the bench. From what I’ve read, Southend seem to have gone cold on the idea of taking Tom Hopper on loan.

The squad is down three players from December in Donnelly, Goodliffe and Woodyard. Also Jay and Greenidge have now departed, although that may not have actually saved us a great deal. We've only brought in Simpson and Tucker so you would think there's space for one more at least. Read will definitely be wanting more game time, he left Stevenage as he wasn't playing enough. Bishop has a better pedigree and more experience at a higher level but I'm not sure his performances have consistently been at that level for us yet. Saying that though Read has also looked a long way short of the player he was last season when he has played.

I completely agree with your comment about Read. As far as Bishop is concerned, now that he's got over that nasty injury he seems to be growing in confidence with each game. His distribution is good and he's started to make some good surges forward. So maybe the best is still to come, hopefully. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yeah he's definitely getting better with every game and hopefully the best is still to come like you say. Feel like he needs a goal or something to really boost his confidence. If only that strike against Doncaster had gone in.

Scully has gone too. He was frankly useless but was on top wages. Injuries have ruined his career opportunities. One more striker required.

Why do you think that durham when we have 3 and mostly play one up front?

Burnsie If I keep banging on about it DC might start to play two up front.. Simpson is only on loan whereas Taylor and Tovide are our players. Also we might get lose Samson to one of these so called Championship clubs Hence one more striker is required. We will win more games and score more goals with proper support for Lyle Taylor. Lone (or loan) strikers are not the answer when we want a top seven place. Although we may secure Simpson's services if we have the financial head room at the end of the season. Up the U's

Never let us down, worked his socks off for others, ended chasing the ball about because the service not good enough .

January 2025 transfer window hopes & facts on 17:15 - Jan 28 with 98 views | CrashBandicoot | Lets see who they are lining up. I don't think they'd let Hopper & Jay (and possibly Tovide) go unless they had their eye on someone. Its a shame about Hopper as he was a good player but just not a consistent goal scorer - whether that was through lack of service or he just wasn't accurate enough is tbd if another striker comes in though Joe Taylor never seemed to have a problem finding the back of the net when he was loaned to us & Lyle Taylor seems to be a more consistent goal scorer.

Who knows? The "official" explanation from DC is that the owner went "over budget" in the four previous seasons "to keep the club in the league". So now it's time to re-balance the books by, presumably, cutting costs and selling/releasing players. To me, it's not a fire sale but certainly shows a complete lack of ambition on the part of the owner.

And it's easier to do all that when the club's league status is relatively secure, unlike 12 months ago.
