I still have such a soft spot for Mark. He was clichéd and had his funny ways but he really did set some fantastic standards. Football in big periods was great. There is a case for some rose tinted outlooks but I genuinely miss him.
It was a period where I was proud to be a QPR fan. I also believe how good it would be if he took a DOF like role here now. He would be a massive upgrade on CN.

Look at us now, and it also proves the manager is not the issue here. Marti is a good coach with a terrible ship to stear currently.

It’s well worth a watch. There’s an element of unfinished business at QPR for Warburton.

He always came across well in interviews and does so here. I do think that summer was the right time to change managers even with hindsight, he'd done a good job but it was going wrong and it was only a matter of time before it fell away

He was correct about the Brizzle game. We lost 1-2 there and we were all over them. Then they come to ours, and it's like a mirror of that game. They are all over us, but we win 2-1. It was a complete mirror game. Crackers is the champ.
But I remember him getting Moses, Barbet and Wallace in for free. They came because of him. Decent players for us, especially Barbet. He knew these players could play as they had done it before for him. But I doubt he knows such players now, I would be surprised he has the same level of contacts or knowledge on actual players and also the relationships to hypnotise them to come.
The game has moved on, and we can see that as he admits staying at West Ham was a mistake.
We don't need a new manager. We need our injured players back, one striker (we are down one from last season), and one playmaker. And that's it. So, overall, we need one extra player. They need to be good, so we need prem loans to mitigate the risk. But we have to be careful we don't end up with Hendricks-type players.

Great interview but Warburton does always speak well.
I thought he had finished with football but clearly wants to get back in somewhere Championship level at least
Think he would definitely be up for a role as technical director, where he oversees recruitment, data analysis, performance, scouting and also the academy
Could see him more likely to get these roles rather than first team coach and clearly I feel would massively suit our club.
He is an intelligent man with an appetite for learning and could see him dovetailing well with a character such as Cifuentes
Doubt that would happen as Hoos and the like still here. For me would be 100% better than Nourry but probably would be too expensive also.
The whole interview almost felt like he was showcasing his talents. Fair enough.
I had thought he had retired myself too but clearly not.
I was happy with the style and performances under Warburton and felt it was pretty poor he was not offered a new contract. Personalities perhaps.
I personally can't see a return for him here but if a club gave him an opportunity I think there would be a decent chance he would do a decent job....
Such an interesting interview. Conor really is becoming a great interviewer and you can tell that by the calibre of guest he is getting in. Love Warbs.

Not sure i agree with lack of experience for role as Director of Football Brian.
Think he actually is very well qualified for such a role myself.

Dropping out of the top 6 for the first time that season and then threatening him about his job. Les really got this one wrong. Just felt really unnecessary to change managers. Next in Beale. Great job Les. Having said all that , this interview felt more an angle to get back into management with QPR. Not really comfortable shifting Marti on for Warburton. One thing i would say is Warburton likes to call the shots. We need someone that knows football and finances. It would be nice for once, to have a person in that boardroom that talks some sense and isnt just a yes man.

We don't know who the call was from, really, and we don't know if the person making the call agreed with it or was just told to make the call. And, let's be honest, others might have a different version altogether.
I loved listening to him, though. The problem with interviews like this is that human nature dictates that they will be biased and one-eyed, but with Warburton the fist might be iron but the glove is oh-so-smooth.

He's only done two years ever in the role, Numpty.
We might like him, and he might love us, and he might be a huge success - who knows? - but it's still only two years of experience.

I do think he has a lot of wider relevant experience tho Brian. Granted only 2 years as a DOF, but many years working in Academy coaching roles, plus of course Manager roles across a range of basket case clubs and owners, married to the fact he is clearly a very highly driven, intelligent guy with a strong finance background. Actually think he’d make a great “Sporting CEO” (TM Nourry Geller), a proper one. He would also insist on high standards and as someone else said not just be. Yes Man to the Board.
That said, the excellent interview with Conner sounds like he wants to be a Manager.

I'd agree with all of that, Bristol.
That's why I always add the proviso that he "might" be great, because he really might! I mean, I'd love it, proper Keegan-style, if he was, but I'm just wary.

Conor's a great interviewer, we're lucky to have another talented QPR content creator in the mix.
On Warburton, he's a good manager, proper football bloke, and by all accounts it was unfortunate for us that he left the way he did. I have to admit I find myself being a bit wary of him though. Always feel like he's got an angle, a bit like Warnock. And I find the way he constantly tells you how you should receive him hilarious, "this isn't disrespectful", "this is an honest interview" etc.
