Will this be Piroes last season? 22:00 - Apr 4 with 3960 viewsRhonnda_Jack

As a massive fan of this guy do you think we could convince him to stay?
I have seen people saying about a manning contract, but I would rather an extra year for Joel because he has been our best player for years.

In answer to the thread title no he is contracted for another season after this. Personally I don't expect him to sign an extension and he will probably run his contract down like others have done. But in football who knows.

Perhaps if there are changes at the very top and possibly below and he can see there is a bit of ambition to get into the prem and the cash was ok he could stay, but has you say who knows in football

He'll do whatever is financially best for him. The "ambition" or otherwise of the club won't enter his thinking.

We'll be looking to sell as soon as the window opens to get some return for him.

Personally I think he will refuse to go, unless someone is prepared to pay him more than he will get 12 months down the line including a signing on fee and there is nothing we can do about it.

When you consider the hype over Ogbene it amazes me that Piroe isn’t reported more outside Swansea
Ogbene 7 goals 3 assists in 33 games (nothing last season in 11 games)
Piroe 14 / 1 in 36 (36/7 over two seasons) and two years younger!

Players, managers and owners as well as fans ( including many claiming to be ITK ) say lots of things all the time.

With a year left if he singed a year extension just to give us one more year, then we could still get a fee. With a release cause .

I feel that I should clarify that this isn't a criticism of Piroe. I find the puritanical obsession with what players or managers earn in some parts to be downright weird. They're all entitled to earn as much as they can from the game just as any one of us would as long as they don't pretend otherwise.

He is delivering week on week. Offer to double his wages to £20k a week. If he is on £10k a week is he going to miss out of £500k for his remaining year? I doubt it.

Naughton is on his way presumably and he was well paid. Benda, Cullen and Wood are due a rise too. Manning and Latibbaudiere are on their way it seems,

Swansea need to upgrade some academy players to help reduce overall wages. Whittaker will have to be sold and Joseph returned to the club. Rushesha Congreve, Josh Tomas and Abdullai will have to step up or be moved out on loan.

High earners Allen and Ntcham have a yearl left and need to produce more match winning performances. .

I really can't see why he would want to do it. Why give us one more year, it doesn't make sense. He will sign for whoever pays him the most and it is very unlikely to be us.

Club needs to sit down with Piroe and his agent, offer a new contract with very good pay rise and an exit clause, alternatively a huge chunk of wedge upfront to sign a new contract with a release clause or just flog him this summer as they can’t let him walk next year.

He’s worth a fair few million and replacing him effectively won’t be cheap. Looking ahead, there’s some potentially big teams in the mix to come down from the PL this summer and they’ll be very strong next season.

He could probably get double that again in the EPL, which is where he belongs.

Sitting tight for a year is a risk, if he sustains a serious injury then his stock falls. He will want to move on and we will want to move him on.

A class player that should not be in a team that can’t seem to finish higher than 15th in the second tier. He knows this.

£10m+ and reinvest a portion would be the play here.

Buyers were interested in Obafemi not Manning and not Piroe in the last window. In the PL he will go back to where he was a PSV and unused reserve.

Offer him to be the best paid player at Swansea and see what happens. A new contract will not stop a PL team if they want the him. It is hard to see him fading. He will score goals if he plays every week.

He will go to who over offers him the most money not what's best for his career or where he thinks he would be happy.

It will be all about money and the most available.
