Hearts Striker Linked With Southampton
Thursday, 4th Jan 2024 20:39

Saints seem to do a lot of business with Scottish clubs these days and the latest man tipped to move from North of the border to the South Coast is currently plying his trade with Heart of Midlothian in Scotland.

Southampton will have plenty of competition though say footballfancast.com for Hearts striker Laurence Shankland.

Crystal Palace, Burnley, Celtic and Everton are said to be interested as are Championship clubs Middlesbrough & Hull City for the 28 year old striker who has scored 13 goals in 21 SPL appearances this season, following on from his 24 in 37 last season.

Saints have been keeping tabs on Shankland since the summer when he was also linked with a move to St Mary's and the rumour North of the border is that it might well happen this time around.

He's 28 years old & has had two decent scoring seasons in Scotland, so where's he been previously? Scottish football apart from the top two wouldn't be too much of a test for Eastleigh FC? Che Adams & Adam Armstrong scoring for fun in the Championship & then struggling in the top flight shows how difficult the step up can be. If we are genuinely looking for top flight football then maybe we need to sign someone with the potential to keep us there!

Just to add maybe we could look closer to home and put in a bid for Morgan Whittaker at Plymouth. Scoring for fun this season and only 22 years old?

Looks like Ben Brereton Diaz is available on loan from Villareal. Will probably go to Sheffield Utd but must be worth a try if Adams is on his way

Shankland seems to have scored goals in several clubs he was loaned to, befopre making a real hit with Hearts . So why not ..both he and Miovski are established goalscorers so we should surely sign one of them. YES we know it's SPL but most of the Scots than we've signed have DAJFU in some way so it must be a better deal than buying in a bench-sitter from a Prem.side and not having to fork out 20mill + for the pleasure.
