Initial Reports On Danny Ings Knee Injury Look Good. Monday, 2nd Nov 2020 11:24 Early reports suggest that Danny Ings has had the scan on his knee injury and that there is no serious damage, which is good news, but the big question is how long he is likely to be out for ?
Various media outlets although nothing from Southampton Football Club yet, suggest that the scan on Danny Ings knee shows no serious damage, they also report that it is expected that he will be ok and fit to return to the side a lot earlier than first thought.
The Saints medical team are currently assessing and monitoring the situation, but it seems that it is relief all around with special care taken due to his history of knee injuries.
However as of yet there is no indication of how long he is likely to be out, even if it is not as serious as thought, it is highly unlikely that he would be risked in any capacity on Friday evening with a two week International break straight after.
It would be silly to risk aggravating it for one game when he can have a three week straight rest and recuperate fully and potentially only miss one game in doing so.
Even one game will be a blow for Saints, but with the emergence of Che Adams we are no longer a one man strike force and we have others who can step up to the plate.
But in the meantime it is good news, we will now have to wait how it pans out over the next few days as it settles down.

Was in the car at 11:30 and they announced on the Sports News on TalkSport that his scan has shown no issues with his knee or the ligaments. They didn't say anything further - in terms of how long he would be out for, but if it was just a knock or jar, then perhaps he will be back in training this week !! I believe that Bednarek was substituted as a precaution and despite him looking ok after the match, was probably tested for concussion. That just leaves Bertrand. Hopefully he went off as a precaution as well, and whatever he did is only something minor. Hopefully there will be an official update / announcement later today.

Interesting to see if Walcott plays down the middle (a la Arsenal) against Newcastle in the absence of Ings?

Would be a great relief if he just missed the one game. We will miss more than just his goals while he is away. Get well soon to Bertrand too as he will be missed. For once the international break will be a good thing...

Great to hear ! Giving him a few weeks off till after the international break would seem the sensible thing to do. Even though Adams is doing well, Ings won't be the same on Friday. Be great to get another 3 points in the bag but my gut feeling is that Newcastle will be a tough game all things considered.

Everyone waits to see if Danny will be fit enough to play on Friday. Several issues here. A win could see us go to the top - albeit for one day - and I'm sure he wants to play. Then of course he'll want to be in the England squad and get some game time.... so if he does play he won't want to aggravate the injury. If he doesn't play ...surely it's a chance for Walcott partner up with Ché Adams. To some Theo is seen as being "old ", rusty and out of form but he has over 100 Prem. goals to his credit already - not to mentioned 40+ England caps - and who spent half of his time at Arsenal trying to convince Wenger that he wanted to play as a striker, and has looked pretty sharp in his two games so far.. We all want what's best for Danny, Saints ..and England (if he plays).. Cue an interesting wait.

Even allowing for the fact that the news appears quite favourable I will be very surprised to see Ings in the team line up for Friday. Ralph seems quite cautious when it comes to injuries and appears to prefer a complete recovery - which I am not knocking at all.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process.
