Saints Open New Contract Talks With Danny Ings Monday, 31st Aug 2020 10:11 Sky Sports are reporting that Saints have opened new contract talks with Danny Ings , news that will be welcomed by all of the St Mary's faithful.
There is not a lot more that can be said about this latest news, aside from the fact that it is well deserved for a player who has shown he can come back from some difficult injuries and produce the best form of his career and that all Saints fans would be delighted to see it happen.
I would say that all Saints supporters would agree that Ings has shown himself to be the best striker we have had since James Beattie, but he has far more to his game than almost any of the strikers I have seen play for us, he is not just about goals, he creates space for others, works hard, can score all types of goals and has even made some timely tackles when defending set pieces.
If Danny Ings sees his career out at St Mary's he has the potential to truly be one of the club's greats.

Hard to say cocklebreath but of course Lambert has like 6 seasons with us whilst Ings has only had 2 along with the fact that half of the time Lambert was in the lower leagues. But really I personally think that Lambert is AT THE MOMENT better but if Ings can have another season like the last one then my opinion will most likely change...

With all this great football and talent coming into focus at the end of last season, I just hope we can keep a team together long enough to win something.

Like those above I have nothing but admiration for Rickie Lambert's contribution to our history, but COMPARISON is not a good word to include in this debate....primarily because the majority of Rickie's many goals were scored at a lower level. It should be remembered that many of our "greats" played in different eras to each other Paine, Davies, Channon , MLT and Beattie. It was a joy for me to watch them all, but I would never want to say X was better than Y ..they all DAJFU at one time or another and I'm pleased for that.

IMO he is most like Kevin Keegan. He creates his own chances from tight spaces inside the box, make opportunities for others and works hard for 90 minutes.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Queens Park Rangers Polls |
