Marcus Bignot has featured in the first team much less this season and spent time on loan at Millwall.

Contract Expires - 07/08

Biggy started the 2006/07 season on the transfer list under Gary Waddock, but showed an example to everyone by simply rolling up his sleeves and working hard to prove his Manager wrong. He excelled under John Gregory, making 36 appearances, many as an emergency left back and later went on to establish himself as Club Captain and was rewarded for his efforts with a new one year contract. He has featured far less frequently during the 2007/08 season and spent time on loan with League One Millwall.

Marcus endured an indifferent season like many of his team mates during the 2005/06 season and finished the campaign on the transfer list as new manager Gary Waddock looked to bring in his own players. His most memorable contribution to the campaignj was sadly a disastrous own goal in the home match with Brighton which cost Rangers two points.

This comes after a terrific 2004/05 season where he was unlucky not to be honoured with the Player of the Year award. He seems to have suffered through Ian Holloway's departure more than most. There's been no takers for Biggy so far so he takes up his place in the Rangers' squad for the new season but is likely to face a battle with Dominic Shimmin for the right back spot.

Bignot was Ian Holloway's first signing along with Andy Thomson during the relegation season in 2001. He settled into a central midfield role initially, scoring his first goal in a 2-1 away defeat at Burnley. After relegation Bignot stayed on and played in both full back positions the following season, scoring a memorable curling effort at home to Bury in the process.

He then left to join the Rushden and Diamonds revolution and they won promotion to the Second Division in his first season. Half way through the new campaign though Rushden's finances fell apart and players were offloaded left right and centre, Bignot looked all set to follow manager Brian Talbot from Nene Park to Oldham Athletic but on route to Greater Manchester he found himself the victim of one of Ian Holloway's infamous persuasive phone calls and the club just beat the transfer deadline to register him in time for the promotion run in. At that time Rangers first choice right back Terrell Forbes was embroiled in a rape allegation and Rchard Edghill was struggling for fitness.

Bignot didn't feature much as Rangers finished second behind Plymouth but started the Championship campaign as first choice full back and was the side's most consistent performer.

He started his career at Kidderminster Harriers before impressing at Crewe. Also spent time with Holloway at Bristol Rovers.

Famed for his ridiculous hair cuts Biggy is also the manager of Birmingham City ladies team and can be heard commentating on women's football for British Eurosport and he BBC from time to time.
