Furniture removal man turned goal scoring QPR midfielder Stuart Wardley is the special guest on this week’s Open All R’s Podcast.

Wardley was signed by Gerry Francis from Saffron Walden Town in the summer of 1999 and despite arriving from deep within the non-league pyramid as a centre half he scored 14 goals from the centre of midfield in the First Division as the R’s staged an unlikely play off push.

Wardley told the Podcast team: “Gerry bough bought me as a centre half, I played three friendlies as a centre half, then as the season started I was on the bench and he played me in a few reserve games in midfield and I started scoring goals and it went from there. Everything I hit went in, it was one of those things. It was a great season for myself. I thought I’d be in the reserves for a season and see how it goes.”

QPunkR added 10:40 - Oct 4 My mate can't stand Wardley since he gave him a duff tip when he bumped into him at one of the big horsey-race meets a couple of years ago. Never a world-beater ability-wise, but boy could Wardley time those runs into the box to perfection!
