After finally finishing off Weymouth, Nottingham Forest beat early season pace-setters Southend United 2-0.

Under Gary Megson, Forest are finally showing some form and an own goal from Che Wilson (51) and a Nicky Southall strike (70) gave their fans something else to cheer about.

Bristol City continue to disappoint and went down to promotion chasing Chesterfield.

City opened the scoring with Luke Wilkshire (6) but a Paul Hall hat-trick (18, pen 30, 61) and Kevan Hurst (25) gaveThe Spireitesa commanding lead. David Cotterill scored a late City goal but it was not enough to alter the 4-2 loss.

Chris Porter scored a fantastic first half hat-trick (11, 21 and 23) for Oldham Athletic away at Brentford.

However, The Bees were always in touch with goals from Darren Pratley (17) and Dudley Campbell (28) anda last minute Lloyd Owusu goalgrabbed a point to make it 3-3.

Struggling Gillingham won 1-0 and collected a vital three points against mid-table Hartlepool United through a Paul Shields goal (10).

Thomas Butler was later sent off for Hartlepool after collecting two yellow cards.

Rotherham United almost gave a boost to their season but Barnsley scored a late equaliser to ensure a 1-1 draw.

Shaun Barker (31) scored for The Millers but they were reduced to nine men when Deon Burton and Lee Williamson were sent off. Barnsley then sensationally salvaged a point through an injury time Steven Watt goal.

Colchester United had to battle hard for their 3-2 win against Blackpool.

In-form Chris Iwelumo put United two up (34, pen 54) but John Murphy (67) hit back to give Blackpool a chance. Greg Halford (81) then looked to have sealed the points, but a late Tommy Wright goal for Blackpool ensured a tight finish.

Doncaster Rovers ran out comfortable 4-2 winners at home to Bournemouth

Goals from Paul Heffernan (41), Michael McIndoe (pen 61), Richard Ravenhill (63) and Nick Fenton (85) for Rovers emphasised their attacking strength.

Bournemouth never really looked in it, but a couple of late goals from Andrew Surman (64) and Dani Rodrigues (79) almost let them back in.

Milton Keynes Dons continue to improve and won 2-1 against Paul Merson's Walsall.

Izale Mcleod put The Dons one up but Eric Skora hit back for Walsall. However, Aaron Wilbraham sealed victory with an 84th minute winner.

Swindon Town stay rooted to the bottom of League One even though they picked up a point at Port Vale.

Things could have been so much better for Swindon after Hameur Bouazza (66) put them in front. But a late equaliser for Vale from Michael Husbands (87) meant that they failed to leapfrog Bristol City.

Tranmere Rovers produced an impressive performance winning 2-1 away at Scunthorpe United.

Chris Greenacre put Rovers in front with a 58th minute penalty, but at the other end Scunthorpenetted a penalty of their own on 68 minutes.

However, the ever impressive Delroy Facey won the game for the Wirral club.

The Iron finished with ten men after Richard Hinds was sent off in the last few minutes.
