I don't mean to make this political, but behaviour comes from the top and regular people have seen the way world leaders have behaved over the past 5 years, dodging accountability for every scummy action taken and doubling down that its not them, even when it is, and thought "I'll have a bit of that, if they can do it so can I".
For some reason, admitting you are wrong seems to have become a sign of weakness. Weird world. |

The only way Championship managers get jobs in the Premier League these days seems to be by getting promoted there.
They'll both appoint someone from either the continent, or someone who has already worked in the top flight and is out of work.
When was the last time a second tier manager left a job to go the top flight? Beale had a go, but did he really turn Wolves down or did they decide against him and he used it to try and get some self-promo PR, given what we've learned about him since? |

I never have, I sometimes wish I have, although for the most part I suspect I'd be glad I haven't....
It does mean I do wonder if/when I've ever passed landmarks (500 games, 1,000 games etc...) but then if I went all the way back to 1995 to try and count I'd probably forget with some games whether I was there or not.
I know the most I've ever done in one year which was 36 in the 2010/11 season. Once it got to Christmas and it became pretty obvious we were on for something special I think I only missed 3 league games in the second half of the year. It feels daft to say, but at the same time due to all of that travelling it did feel like the team's success was mine as much as it was theirs! (Do you folk who do go 35-40+ games per season feel the same year after year?!) |

The first half reminded me of the old Championship Manager games when you'd click "Start Game" then it would immediately scroll through to 45 minutes and the commentary would say "the referee blows for half time" and you'd click the Match Commentary button and it would be:-
"0 min - X kicked off for Y"
"45 min - the referee blew for half time"

More green shots but its still only 4 wins in 20 and we're still very much looking over our shoulders rather than up ahead.
Might as well enjoy some good form as fans because we ain't half struggled enough and its nice to smile about the R's but I'm sure Marti and the squad know well enough we're still in a battle in the bottom third. |

He was far too good for Oxford's forward players last night, proper gulf in quality between the them in how easy Cook made it look to read what they were doing and cut it out before it got dangerous. |

They were rubbish but not the worst side of the last decade by any stretch, that is comfortably held by Rotherham in the year we beat them 5-1 at Loftus Road and they finished bottom and 28 points adrift of safety (2016-17). And we were rubbish and lost 7 of our final 8 after that.
Bit of recency bias here.
But otherwise yeah, they were pretty bad, but we still had to get the job done and win the game. |

Absolutely superb last night, I think he has a bit of improvement in the final third still in terms of ball playing, but in our defensive and midfield thirds I thought he was brilliant. |

And Billing Aquadrome in Northamptonshire, whilst always a bit of a flood hotspot, has had serious floods three times alone this year, the most recent of which last week led to warnings of danger to life. And in the county the A14 dual carriageway was underwater, never known that to happen.
(As an aside, being from Northants, I've never understood why anyone would want to buy a holiday home in the middle of the country but each to their own...)
The British Touring Car Championship had three race days of ten suspended this year due to extreme rain and race tracks flooding - at Donington Park, Snetterton, and Silverstone which is the most advanced draining wise of the lot. You could call it bad luck, but three race days in a year to experience suspended action is unprecedented. |

I've seen some clips of his regular stand-up on the internet recently and actually found it really funny. I think because he gets plonked on the Beeb so often as a non-offensive middle-of-the-road type we don't appreciate his full comedy repertoire because he saves it for when he's not on the Beeb. |

I must admit he is one that I look at with raised eyebrows. I think the vast majority of us all know its not a "Hall of Fame" for legends only, and people like Peter Ramage who perhaps didn't play as much as he'd like but did a lot of work off the pitch with the Community scene means he deserves his place as much as anyone, but I'm not aware of Mahon ever being that sort of figure (happy to be proven wrong on it!)
He was a decent player, a right sort etc, but in my eyes just another player who was around for a couple of years.
Not that I really feel that passionate about it to go all Liz Truss "This. Is. A. Disgrace!" on it mind.
I liked at the last game we inducted pre-war players who no-one alive will know but still played their own significant part in the clubs history with hundreds of appearances, I like that that side gets recognised. |
