And Nick just to clarify,
We need 8 £30m + players to play the Russell Martin way.
Possession football.
Aribo, Downes and Smallbone ain’t the answer.
If we played ‘normally’ then maybe we’d of had/have a chance of staying up with these players.
Definitely need a Centre Forward though.
Archer is useless with his back to goal.
I can’t see us getting a point anytime soon playing this way with these players.

It will be interesting to see what happens with a World Class manager in charge.
For all the midfield and attacking talent we still do not have a stand out Centre Back and when Luke Shaw is injured, a Left Back.
Even if we win the World Cup in 2026 there will still be people moaning about it.
Probably because Tunchel didn’t sing the national anthem.
He is German, why would he? |

I don’t think we have 3 or 4 key players.
Ramsdale would probably be the only player courted by other PL sides.
KWP seems to have gone to shit.
Doesn’t help when being played Left Back with no left foot.
He’ll be off on a free the end of the season.
I had high hopes for Downes but the odd half decent game here and there.
THB and Dibling would probably be picked up in the hope of the developing well.
A few of them maybe signed as squad players when we get relegated but that’s about it.
And the 2 loan signings!
Christ what a fúck up that was.
Cornet who had a half decent season for Burnley ages ago and Ugochukwu.
He’s no better than Shea Charles and that’s saying something.
We wasted those two spots f’sure.
How Martin is still in a job is baffling.

At any other club he’d of been gone last Monday after the Wolves debacle.

Villa have wealthy owner who have bought well and an experienced top flight manager.
Us losing to Wolves without a shot on target is the lowest of the low.
Russell Martin’s style of play may work in the this league but not with the majority of the players being Championship standard.
It needs 8 new £30m + players or a change of manager to survive in this league.

Last season was great as we were winning games.
What happens if we’re not next season?
Will we become another Blackburn, Swansea, Derby, Stoke, Norwich…
The list goes on.
Think of the financial impact.
Jobs went last time.
Plenty of crap kick off times in The Championship too.
I want my team to be in the highest league possible.
