West Ham's directors' response is pathetic and should punished along with the guilty "fans". Safe arrival at the ground should be expected whatever time, whoever the visitors are. There can be no excuses for this violent behaviour. They will only understand the importance of what happened by a proper punishment - choose one of the following : close the new ground to fans for 5 games, ban them from European Competition, deduct 5 points next season that would wipe the smile from their disgustingly smug faces! |

the point that I tried to make is: no excuses from players or club if we don't do the obvious |

not sure about Everton, Koeman insists he will see out his contract and the Everton vacancy will surely come before then |

Not exactly "FIXED", more influenced at the margins, and as we know the margins are slim |

so it will now be cheaper to watch your team away from home. 4 mates getting together may prefer away games to home ones if finances are limited |
| Forum Reply | Top Ten Spot This Season Will Be Success For Saints at 15:53 8 Mar 2016
Very difficult question to answer, loads of views but no comments up to now. The difficulty is that expectations are enhanced each time we have a good year. So, 2 good years on the trot both following the sale of some of our best players, leads to extra wishes. This summer will see the sale of more of the current squad (maybe Wanyama, Mane and Pelle). Can we survive that, yes, probably, especially if the quality of our new players is up to standard, we will have the money with sale receipts and tv monies. We must not sell Long, Romeu, VVD or Forster. But, back to this year - 10th will be ok and is probably the likely finish point "Success" it will not be especially after disappointing show in the three cups we started in. We need to aim higher and it is clear that Koeman wants a higher finish |
| Forum Reply | West Ham are a very good side at 09:55 3 Mar 2016
West Ham are certainly on the up, and with the new ground (already sold out next year) and the Premier League £100m+ they will be strengthening the team at the end of the season. Suddenly they will be one of the top clubs, shortly joined by Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea when they have grounds to match their onfield performance as clubs with grounds holding 50,000 fans. Just pause for a second and look at the list - Newcastle, Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, West Ham (will Everton follow now with new owners?). 9, yes 9 clubs - we are in serious danger of missing out. It is indisputable that success follows income (Leicester the exception this year) and that would place us 10th in the list. Our owners need to wake up to the facts here. Could we fill a bigger stadium? Yes, of course we could. With the right pricing and an acceptance that the paying public would change as the Premier League itself becomes a tourist attraction. We need to accept that this is happening and not rale against half/half scarves. We, the supporters, also need to realise that we are part of the Premier League offer and welcome these changes. |

After Reading the horror stories above I checked on the internet through Tripadvisor (and others) and the news is that in the last 20 years Marseilles has improved enormously and is quite safe if you are sensible. Additionally, I would expect security at the event to be unusually high, so reassured and looking forward to going. Only momentary 2nd thought caused by comment that it was just like any port town such as Southampton or Portsmouth |

I have been a Saints fan for over 60 years, so yes, I've been one of the fortunate ones. From 3rd Division (South) to the Premiership via Wembley and Cardiff cup finals, from Johnson Paint, through League Cup to FA Cup and a number of promotions. But longevity brings with it patience and understanding of the underlying issues. We all want to win something but not at the cost of doing a Pompey or a Wigan. We are currently one of the top 30 clubs in the world but we do not have one of the top 100 stadiums by capacity. This is the key to our continued success, along with staying in the Premiership |
| Forum Reply | TV Bonanza Next Season at 10:53 17 Feb 2016
yes, do the sums an extra 10,000 tickets at £5 less on average plus the out of pocket expenditure on the day - programmes, food, drink, shop (33% increase) |
| Forum Reply | Can Saints Make The Champions League ? at 11:26 15 Feb 2016
Yes, it's possible this year although I'd rather have a Europa League place avoiding the pre qualification matches. It is the quantity of matches caused by having to pre qualify that hurt in both the Champions and Europa Leagues. Just look at how it caused us a problem this year. I think the key is progress, but at a pace we can sustain and that will not impact negatively on the premier league. |
| Forum Reply | So Koeman... at 18:09 9 Feb 2016
I know the whole purpose of a fansite is to chat endlessly about every aspect of the club, but really.................. Koeman is going nowhere and will sign a new contract in the summer which will help to secure the new transfer recruits. Inside knowledge, no, just common sense. |
| Forum Reply | Big vic at 15:53 4 Feb 2016
I know we all enjoy our own opinions, but let us move on now the transfer window has closed. Let us instead let VW have a period of quiet over his contract and then if he is inclined to stay with us perhpas that will help him make up his mind. Here is a challenge - name 3 players in his role for other teams who are genuinely and unarguably better than him. |
| Forum Reply | Wanyama... at 17:49 25 Jan 2016
The whole idea is to improve the squad of players as we go along. Selling our best players makes this more difficult - both getting replacements and keeping the dynamics of the team. Anyone who saw Victor play in Arnhem, let alone against United, will testify to the fact that he qualifies for our 1st XII, despite the great performances by Romeu Koeman will sign a new 3 year contract in the summer if he gets the money to really improve the squad and does not lose his best players We need to let the players all know, Mane, Wanyama, Pelle and Koeman that we the fans want them to stay at Saints. Then I believe we might well be looking at an exceptional year next season |
| Forum Reply | Jordy Clasie so far... at 10:35 12 Jan 2016
it is difficult to judge him because of his lack of a pre season training preparation, but he needs to show more in the second half of the season. Hopefully the return of Pelle and Forster will help the team. |
| Forum Reply | Koenan Talks Tough at 11:01 8 Jan 2016
So, finally Koeman is pushing the club to improve, letting the players know who is boss, getting his way over January sales and buys, now he needs to sort out the Academy. If only Targett and Reed are currently 1st team material, he needs to persuade the club to do better. So many players in there and so little product |
| Forum Reply | Sell the Africans at 13:13 6 Jan 2016
Last summer we strengthened the squad but not the team. This has been exposed even more because of the long term injuries to 2 of our best players - JRod and Fraser and because Clasie has not yet stepped up to the mark properly. Our next step has to be to improved the quality of the 1st 15 players with proven international players not players who prove our "system works". Don't buy players that we have never heard of, or are in the reserves at other teams but proper known quality. |
| Forum Reply | What positions do we need to strengthen this summer? at 17:46 14 May 2015
Top Class Goalkeeper - Krul at Newcastle or Pantilimon of Sunderland Defenders - Janmaat of Newcastle or Trippier of Burnley Midfield - Downing of West Ham or Elmohamady of Hull Forwards - Austin of QPR or Remy of Chelsea |
