Agree with that. We saw the opposite of tiredness yesterday and it's great that McNulty is utilising his squad, i know it's been forced on him in respect of recent injuries but all of a sudden there seems to be a freshness about us. Great things can be achieved over the next couple of months, the squad in effect had a mid winter break so maybe it's the opposition who are succumbing to tiredness now, especially those with smaller squads and part time footballers such as Weadstone. My (our) last experience of pre-match hospitality earlier in the season was pretty poor. I won't regurgitate the reasons why but it did need flagging up at the time. We again booked into hospitality today and the difference was chalk and cheese, it was really good value for money and a excellent afternoon. The tables were properly dressed and created a good first impression. The carvery meal was one of the best I've tasted, very well cooked and hot, everybody on our table thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Great staff also and that includes those behind the bar. We look forward to our next booking on Easter Monday. I also had a chat with the Co- Chairman Simon Gauge and we managed to move on from what has been a very stressful last few years, one that has cost him far more money than me to be fair. We also won 4-1 so it's been a good day. |

Not sure what Tobis personality has to do with McNulty, he would have had the same personality before he came to the club. Criticism of McNulty clearly irks you but prior to Tuesday we have won one league game this year and picked up 7 points from a possible 24..that's relegation form in anybodies book. To just ignore that run of form and not ask questions of the manager wouldnt be right. Of course we've had some wins in the Trophy games but at the moment we will do really well to secure a play off spot. League results since the turn of the year have been poor and even McNulty would do well to flower that fact up. We've had two good wins this week let's continue that and treat the game at Oldham next Saturday as a game that really means something for a change. [Post edited 8 Mar 8:58]

I think Hogan is proving to be a good signing, a no nonsense defender who is strong and wins most of his headers. He also brings loads of experience to the backline which we have missed since EEL picked up his injury. We've beat two top teams over the last few days and not conceded, that should give everybody plenty of confidence after a recent run of poor results in the league. |

Agree regarding Kingdon, he was solid throughout and hardly put a foot wrong. Gateshead neat and tidy but created very little. We deserved the win in the end for our perseverance in what was a classic case of two teams cancelling each other out. |

It's a funny old game. We've never won a meaningful trophy in the clubs history, the Ogdens could achieve it in their first season. |

He'll score twenty goals this season, you don't give goalscorers away. |

Yes, all fair points those. It does beg the question though ,why has it taken until the last third of the season for McNulty to bring a alternative like Bird into the club? We've been crying out for a physical presence up front all season, somebody who can hold the ball up and bring others into play. Two forwards who can play off each other. You need it in this league, Fondop is a great example at Oldham. [Post edited 3 Mar 15:09]

Some good points in all of that but I dont buy into the Sassi/ Hogan example. Sassi was a liability who played a defence splitting forward ball which led to a Mitchell goal, he wasnt notable for his passing ability and Hogan is by far a better defender. If We're relying on a centre half to set up chances for the forwards then the finger needs pointing at the manager. Secondly, i don't think McNultys lack of tactical nouse and flexibility has been highlighted enough. There have been many games when we have created next to no chances throughout the duration and passed up a gilt edged opportunity to put the ball into the penalty area in preference to recycling the ball backwards. Eventually any striker loses the will to gamble in and round the penalty area, i think we see that with Mitchell. Then there is also Devante Rodney who seems to just meander through games, he's the conundrum not Mitchell. To my mind Mitchell is often left alone up front with Rodney out near the wing, he's fighting a loan battle. So i think it's the way the team is set up to play and the adverse risk to losing posession that is the conundrum and not Mitchell. Give him the chances and he'll score goals, he's proved that. |

Agree, there's always a reason for why we can't compete or achieve. A excuse for not being able to do something. Both on and off the pitch...even banging a drum. Why all of a sudden are our players anymore knackered than players from clubs we are competing against? We have a very competitive squad and for all my misgivings about Simon Gauge I'm pretty sure he's made sure that McNulty has been backed. There is still over two months of the season left to play, more if we win our next trophy game..if the players are collapsing and tired now then God help us for the remainder of the season. Not many managers would give the players a ready made excuses to under perform but that's what McNulty does in his interview, he doesnt think they should be criticised for it. We're a professional football club and we live or die on football results, that should always be the priority for everybody, especially the manager. [Post edited 2 Mar 11:51]

McNultys post match interview worried me with nine weeks of the season left. He mentioned players collapsing on the pitch and how tired they were. He sounded like a man who didn't believe we can reach the play offs or beat Gateshead on Tuesday night. That's only my perception, others might listen and disagree. He mentions the pitch and the upcoming fixtures and there's no positives to take from his comments. He also mentions his data analysis in a positive way and suggests everything is on track. We have picked up 4 points from the last available 18 in the league, thats relegation form, he doesnt mention that. I'd also suggest that Fitness shouldn't be a issue with so much of the season still left to play surely? It's not good when you hear your manager speaking like that and I'm now of the mind that we will drift away in the league but hopefully have a visit to Wembley as a consolation. How do the part time teams cope? [Post edited 2 Mar 8:02]

Spot on. A proper team performance today, Barlow was fantastic and Bird also reminded me of COG. It's the inconsistency of performances that cause the frustration and we beat a very decent Altrincham team today by playing with some tempo and not playing walking football in our own half. |

Thanks for your in depth explanation. The fact that this large increase in beer prices wasnt deemed important enough to inform the fans/ customers at the time is indicative of how the fans perceive they are viewed by those in charge of the day to day running of the club. No doubt hoping that a hefty rise in the price of a pint will somehow go unnoticed. A 30p rise on a pint of beer is a significant increase and supporters should have been informed. Your communication on this forum is always appreciated but in this particular instance it's disappointing that such a large price rise was not cascaded down to the customers/ fans. This at a time when the club are about to launch an initiative which has communication between the club and it's fans as its main bedrock. Something championed by James Willoughby a Club Director. Can you confirm that over the last couple of weeks beer prices have gone up 30p/pint in the Ratcliffe? It was the topic of conversation at the last home game. If that's correct why haven't fans been informed? The club have just launched CAB and it's supposedly all about improving communication between the club and the fans. |

Fair point but I'm willing to bet his budget at Bolton was still well in excess of Accringtons. Scunthorpe was a total disaster. He gave us the best time ever as Dale fans, thats what he should be remembered for, in the end he'd lost the plot though. [Post edited 26 Feb 17:34]

A poor result against a poor team. To be fair i thought we knocked it about well tonight especially in the second half. We aren't ruthless in the final third though and that's been apparent all season. Draws are like defeats now, theyre no good, |
