Was it not a case of selling Armstrong as he wouldn't extend his contract? Had we held on to him I wouldn't bank on him having scored more than a goal or two. Celar's a dud but Armstrong also not the answer.
Maybe try Lloyd from the start but I think we have to keep our expectations of him low and I'd be surprised if he'd be good for anything after an hour.
Well Hayden back in would be a decent start. Anderson perked things up last season so they have some form of picking the odd decent player. I still maintain it's far from impossible and as you say a win at Cardiff and it doesn't look quite so bleak. A loss on the other hand...
Agreed on Ashby. I thought he was good today and loved it when he went flying into a tackle towards the end. Showed some passion. I'm not a big Paal fan but I guess he has to play if fit as he's the only left footed full back. Maybe try Ashby on right and Paal on left. I think Morrison looks decent and long term of everyone's fit I'd like to see him and Clarke Salter as our CBs. Love Cook but he's definitely on the wane.
I don't think the squad as it stands is good enough. Get to January though within six points or so from safety and it's not impossible IF we get a couple of signings in who can make a difference.
Looks like it might be over going on his comments here. Would be a shame as he still had the support of the crowd today and I don't think the players have given up on him .
I totally understand the sense of despair from many but we can't just give up with so much of the season to play. Looks to me like the players still care even if they're not very good. Celar could do with a spell away from the starting 11 but there's so few options. Lloyd puts himself about a bit but he's just another Sinclair Armstrong. Fine for the last 10-15 minutes but never a starter. Similar with Paul Smyth. It's a struggle to watch him play so many minutes when he is such a limited player but there really are no other options.
Just back. I've seen a lot worse this year. Started well. Not sure why we then sat back a bit. Horrible defending from Dunne for their goal but they didn't give up. We're not a good team and we make scoring a goal look almost impossible. We just need to try not to find ourselves more than five or six points adrift of safety going into the transfer window. There are at least 6 or 7 very poor teams in the league this year. While that remains the case, I'm not giving up hope. A win on Wednesday would be glorious.
Never has a team or fan base needed an international break as badly as QPR. Get JCS back in the team, maybe Paal, Colback and Frey and we stand a chance. One positive result against Stoke and we're only 3 points adrift.
No denying we're total garbage right now but Marti somehow got a tune out of us last year so I have some hope he might perform another miracle. Couple of bad results after the international break and they'll most likely sack him. Who knows what happens from there.
It's not over yet as we simply have to find a way to play better and we'll almost certainly add a few in January. We're the worst of the lot right now but there are plenty of other rubbish teams in this league.
There's nothing can be said about this team that hasn't already been said. Mentally so very weak. One or two players below par and we crumble. Burnley and Sunderland was the very best this team have to offer and that returned no goals in 180 minutes of football. Seriously tempted to leave at half time.
I turned on quite a few of them last night. The main culprits were Chair and Celar. Both of them guilty of failing to do the basics of closing down a man. No point playing a press if two players aren't going to join in. I lost it at one point when Celar look at the long ball coming in his direction and decided not to even bother jumping. Sure he probably wouldn't have won the header but he just looked at it and kept both feet very much on the ground. He's a weakling and I can't see him thriving in this league. Compare that to Saito who is our smallest player but he put himself about as much as anyone yesterday. I'd start him ahead of Dembele at the moment.
It was a great moment. Reminds you that there's so much more to life than football. Players and managers come and go but the fans share a bond that is special and they always show up for each other when someone needs support. Barney, did us all proud on Saturday. An inspirational young man.
I'd love to play alongside someone who demands so much from themselves and those around him. He's not the manager, he's the captain. It's his job more than Marti's to call out lack of standards, effort and quality. Marti can't publicly say what Cook can but I'm sure they're on the same page.
Another good man. Says it how it is and has earnt the right to do that by being a model pro who has had an exceptional career (compared to anyone else in our squad)
Admittedly the view in upper loft is better than where I am in the lower loft but it looks to me like he takes up positions where he's not quite close enough to put in a tackle and not quite in enough space to receive the ball. Maybe that's hiding or maybe that's just not being very good. I don't know, I've never played centre mid in a a game of professional football. I imagine it's bloody hard work to make an impression on the game. That's why CMs are usually the best all round players on the pitch. Hopefully he can get better at being in the right place at the right time.
Reasonable response from Marti there. He's a good man and I'm not sure we'd necessarily attract anyone better given the materials they'd be asked to work with. We know he doesn't make the signings. He can only work with what he's got which at the moment has some significant limitations. JCS back in on Tuesday surely. Also expect Varane to start ahead of Madsen. I like Saito and hope he starts on Tuesday. Maybe alongside Chair and Dembele. Admittedly a very small trio but if they can strike up an understanding they could spark our season into life.
Yep. It was alarming how bad we were when they've had two weeks to prepare to play the only team in the league who might actually be worse than us on current form. Watching the warm up, the intensity looked good. Some nice finishing and pacey drills. Aside from the opening 10 minutes of the second half we showed almost no intensity throughout the whole game.
