Sheffield U 9 v 7 Barnsley
Coventry 11 v 9 Sheffield U
Sheffield U 9 v 10 Scunthorpe

Peterborough 14 v 10 Scunthorpe
Scunthorpe 10 v 12 Port Vale
Sheffield U 9 v 10 Scunthorpe

(agree we should be looking up not down but...)

Good to see that these two still have to take points off each other as well. Was feeling fairly down after last night but having looked at this thread I'm smiling again. We're the only team in the mix who are only playing teams with nothing to play for (assuming that Colchester are already relegated).

Wonder what Keith would make of this?

I just don't understand why they sound so proud about it. Like it's a great thing they've done.

"Ha! We've spent money that hasn't been budgeted for. We've basically told all the players on our existing wage structure that 'your not worth what this guy is, we've smashed it for him'. Other clubs further up the league had a look and decided not to bother, we did exactly what his agent said. "

The Dawson one was worse than "Didn't see it". The ref indicated he had seen it as he was making a gesture to say the player won the ball and was shaking his head. So he saw it but apparently deemed it a fair challenge. Compare that to some of the 'fouls' on their 37 that were given and sadly incompetent doesn't cover it. If I had such a bad day at the office it would probably lead to serious injury or death and (if it wasn't me killed) I'd by in prison never mind sacked. I'm normally pretty soft on refs as I think for the most part they do a tough job as well as they can while thousands of people hurl abuse at them. Today though, was one of the worst reffing performances I've ever seen and he deserves everything he gets. It's just a shame that he probably won't get as much as a bad report, the FA stand by their refs no matter what.

I did go to the site when someone first posted a link on here. I'm sure that 'interest' was noted by google so I guess it's not that surprising, just bloody funny.

The Chairman Speaks......................
at 10:27 26 Apr 2014

I missed the match last for the promotion as I was away with work and (despite a long trip back on the Tuesday when we didn't quite do it) and I thought I'd miss today for the same reason. Thankfully I talked some wonderfully understanding colleagues into working thru the night yesterday so we could set off earlier than I hoped this morning. Leaving Southampton any minuet in hope of good traffic and seeing us do it this time.

Up the Dale!

Grassroots Football Slowly Dying
at 21:56 17 Jan 2014

This has to be one of the most depressing things I've read in a long time. The bit that makes me most angry is, unsurprisingly, the figures about what the Premier League allows to trickle down.

I never thought I'd live to see Steve Doyle and Pele mentioned in the same sentence. Not once but twice!

Did We Deserve It?
at 14:44 24 Oct 2013

D&R have picked up a few wins recently but they've mostly been against the likes of Stanley and the buckets. They've played 4 of the current bottom 5 in the last 6 weeks. The 1-0 over Southend was the only game they've had against a top half side since they drew against Morecambe a month ago.

I'm greedy, I want a win on Saturday. A draw would be a great result for D&R.

'I know there's more than one win to skin a cat and the Barca,Arsenal,Swansea,Brentfor d,Walsall,Rochdale way of playing may be easy on the eye and effective but so is the West Ham way,as demonstrated on Sunday. We need to decide which is better for us in League One.'

Love it, being compared to Walsall, priceless.

Maybe a way to get the minorities of the town more interested...............
at 14:29 26 Apr 2013

Hello all,

rare post from a long time reader.

I think this could well be part of a bigger problem to do with how football is perceived in general. We all know that pretty much anyone who comes and pays money to watch our team will be welcomed with open arms. Okay, so a few people seem to complain when we have trips like Wembley and suddenly we have more fans, but that's out of frustration that they don't turn up every week.

I dont get to many games, I work away from home a lot and often at short notice, I was all ready for tomorrows game but I wont be able to make it now as a job has come up. I'm gutted to miss the season finale but frankly I need the money. Whenever I do get to games I try not to come alone. I give people the hard sell and try to bring people with me, premiere league fans, people who've never been to a match of any kind before, whoever. So over the years I've introduced quite a lot of people to our club and in some cases to live football in general.

What is always striking is that when I'm talking people into coming often they and anyone else within earshot who aren't a regulars at matches start asking 'Will it be safe?' 'Wont there be any trouble?' 'Isn't it full of racists?' etc etc etc. That's still how a lot of people who don't go to football perceive it. It's not my experience and I tell them so, but that's the stereotype. I think it is a same that a broader mix of people don't come to the Dale, most people in the crowd are exactly like me, male, white and from Rochdale.

I don't know what the answer to this is but there are a hell of a lot of people who don't fit that description and like football but they still feel uncomfortable about the idea of coming to games.

congrats to Crewe..

Well done to them. Always quite liked Crewe, a history of playing decent football and using their youth system to great effect. To be honest they're a bit of a model of how I think teams at our level should be.

Were they 18th when the new boss took over? Something like 19 games unbeaten up to Wembley, goes to show how the playoffs are all about form and not league position.

Also, that game we had at their's on boxing day a few years back. Cracking match that was.

Swansea have enquiry for Dawson rejected
at 00:46 29 May 2012

We never did replace him. Either Hillcroft, knowing he was leaving, or then last season successive managers.

Not replacing him is a large part of why we find ourselves where we are.

(and just to pre-empt some responses, I never in a million years expected us to sign another centre half who was destined to play in the top flight and go on to become perhaps one of the countries top players, especially from a non-league side for a nominal fee and who grew up in the town. I know that in many senses 'Our Craig' was irreplaceable. In terms of being a competent defender at league one level he was not, and therefore should have been replaced - in my opinion before he actually left, say in Hilcroft's last January window. They knew he was going, he'd already been sold, so why not line up a replacement).
