Thanks for the reply, I'm afraid it's the tired old blogging cliche... 1. Author writes report and invites comments 2. Author receives negative comment 3. Author whinges 'Am I not allowed to voice my opinion?' 4. Author slowly begins to realise irony I don't think anyone could have thought my first reponse was an angered one, just a considered view of your article which in all actuallality was a decent bit of work. You just chose to litter the piece with disparaging remarks that represented a deep undercurrent of pure hatred towards Coventry that it seems even your own fans have taken issue with. "Coventry, a non-league side in styles and morals" "Sorry excuse for a football team" "Aidy Boothroyd a horrible little prick" I haven't taken the time to look at your other posts so I'm not sure if this kind of ill-informed, insulting attitude towards opponents is sort of 'your thing' but I eagerly await your next post. You might like to take a leaf out of my book if you like. I managed to get my point across without even mentionning your c**t of a manager or your drug cheat goalkeeper. A Coventry Fan in peace (just about) |

What an angry man Mr Clive Whittingham is. Not content with sitting top of The Championship he feels compelled to pass judgement on a Boothroyd-managed Coventry side which, from his post, it appears he has seen just twice. Not a new phenomenom this season of course, we are now well used to the morally righteous football majority branding us with the anti-football label, even if it's based on at best a home and away game against us or more often than not just an opinion formulated whilst sat on the anti-Boothroyd bandwagon. In our defence this is very much a rebuilding season for us. Boothroyd doesn't have much to work with and we don't have the resources to do anything about it. Survival is once again the aim. Your future of course seems to lie elsewhere this season but the tone of this post seems to suggest we have lived in your shadow for a decade when in fact you hadn't won (or scored) in Coventry for 3 years prior to this and hadn't beaten us at Loftus Road for the past 2. The crying shame about the authors view here though is that as football clubs we are not that different. Both have seen better days, both have spent far too long in the second tier due in part to reckless chairmen and have had to start rebuilding while teams like Blackpool, Hull, Wigan and Stoke have passed through the league. While it might be 4 months until you claim your place in the Premier League it seems some of your fans (including Mr Whittingham) are already there and feel obliged to criticise other players/clubs/managers for not applying the principles of the beautiful game that you can now afford to play. Taarabt might get you promoted this year but remember your only 1 bad signing away from Brett Angell. Meanwhile we will still be here with the 'objectionable' Sammy Clingan (?) I guess we will see you on your way back down.. In truth I've always loved visiting Loftus Road and a huge respoect for Rangers fans, this post just stinks of a lack of respect from an author who can't remember past last week when it comes to forming opinions on other clubs. Good luck for the rest of the season. Coventry Fan in peace. |
