He was only a quarter Welsh and was brought up as an Englishman in an English castle in Pembroke.. he then used his ‘birthright’ to muster support among the Welsh by proclaiming himself ‘y Mab Darogan’… when he got the English crown he and his son after him banned Welsh law and oversaw Cymru’s full annexation into the English state; purged the countryside , hanging thousands because of their Welsh Catholicism and banned the language in all public domains, despite 95% being monoglot Welsh speakers.. if he started off believing he was Welsh he soon traded his principles for his new found power as King of England
British? Welsh here mate - to most British is English. Welsh history should have been taught in schools. Not the Tudors etc. We are Wales and not England
