Thread | Youth Team match v Walsall?

Not going to Plymouth tomorrow so thought I would take in the Youth Team match v Walsall in the morning. However, can't find any details on the Dale, nor Walsall, nor Stalybridge websites. Youth team fixtures have disappeared from our website and also Walsall's. I rang the club late this afternoon but unfortunately most had left for the evening and the person, although very obliging, couldn't find any information for me.
Just wondered if anyone knows if the match is still on or has been postponed? |

I know there were a few problems due to us being put into the same stand last Saturday even though some had paid only £5 and others £22. There was a phone number that was passed around during the match to contact to get a refund. I just wondered if those that 'had paid too much' been successful in getting a refund? |

Anybody know any details about the venue, and if in fact it is being played and not postponed?
No information on our nor Bury's website.
I know we usually play our home games at either Abbey Hey or Radcliffe Borough's grounds.
A free Saturday, first team wise, so thought I would go along and watch our starlets. Don't want to be going to the wrong ground. |

Special mention to our youth team today as well. 2-1 down with 12 minutes to play and won 5-2! Played really well, in difficult conditions too. Two for Jack Stewart and a hat trick for Matthew Gillam. |

There is a picture in todays Ob (yes, I still buy the local rag!) of a group of school children from Marland Hill Primary School in fancy dress taken about 10 years ago. The wizard (very apt, I thought) goes by the name of Jamie Allen! I know he lives/lived in the Marland area and therefore probably went to that school around that time so presume its 'our' Jamie Allen.
I'm sure he won't forgive me for pointing it out! |

Just had a look at the player ratings for the Walsall game and can't believe some of the 'scores'. How, for example, could Andy Cannon only receive an average of 4.7 compared to the two centre backs who started and achieved over 5.5? I also think that Calvin Andrew deserved a much higher rating; I don't think he missed a header all night.
Either a lot of people have voted who weren't at the match or we have a few intruders who are taking the wee wee! [Post edited 12 Feb 2015 20:14]

If any Daley's saw her program last night, The Wonder of Britain, you might have spotted yourself. She was filming at Sheffield Utd the day we played them this season. There were a few shots of Dale fans outside the ground and a good crowd shot of Dale fans during the match. Obviously, nothing about the actual match, however.
It set me wondering if we have been 'featured' on any other non football related television program before? I can't think of one. |

Whooppee, I thought I was going to have to buy one of those extra salty cheese pies and nuclear green peas in the ground.

I'm sure anyone interested will already know the result and there will probably be a report on the OS shortly. We lost 3.2 but any neutral there could be forgiven in thinking Blackburn were playing in blue and black.
I think I'm right in saying non of the Dale starting eleven today started on Saturday, but with the standard of play this afternoon practically everyone of them would not look out of place in the first team starting line up. Even when the likes of Done, Tutte and Hery were substituted in the second half their replacements just carried on where they had left off without the standards dropping. I don't think I have ever seen such strength in depth at Rochdale before.
I talked to a couple of Blackburn fans after the match and they were mighty impressed by the Dale style of play, so its not just me having a biased view!
Incidentally, we were very unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty late in the second half; and there was a very suspect offside that was not givenleading up to their second goal!
Even though we lost, well done Dale!

I'm sure the OS will be putting a report up about the game next week. But for those that might be interested, the youth team beat Accy Stanley 6-1 at Hopwood Hall today.
What was remarkable about the match was that at 1-0 up mid way through the first half the Dale were reduced to 9 men!
The amount of effort those 9, plus the subs, put in was fantastic. Beechy must be very proud of them. Although I pity the 2 that got dismissed. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]
