Staggering isn't it. No questions asked about this blokes motives, finances and whatever else. Back on the ride. Seen a picture of him tarting up a non-league ground with some new seats and decided he's the real deal.... twice bitten, thrice shy?!
If (!) a Bury FC side gets back together, I think it'll be the slow death of AFC. Their season will surely be binned off soon. Any potential momentum was slowed with the crowd limits - no games and no potential promotion will be damaging. They'll retain a hardcore membership but a lot would drift back to BFC.
I suspect there's a chunk who have no interest in either any more. Didn't fancy AFC and don't want to associate themselves with the characters and chancers around BFC. Don't blame them. |

I'd be surprised if AFC would have ever got off the ground with those in charge. Too divisive and confrontational. It certainly would've been very different. |

Pretty much the only reason I signed up....it must be imminent.
Yeah, the old MB closed down due to a fallout involving the directors of this company they set up. John could've had an argument on an empty forum so no real surprise it came to that. |

He could've not bought it in the first place? Correct, we would've gone under sooner but I don't believe for a second that Dale was duped by Day and he "inherited" it. He knew full well what he was getting into. I still lay the blame pretty much fully at Day - without Day, we would never have Dale picking at the carcass. But as it stands, Dale is at the helm so right now it is all about him.
I can't see there being anyone willing to put £4million in, unless a Bury fan wins the Euromillions. Why would anyone with sense do it? Buying a football club isn't a sound investment at the best of times, but this one would be a dreadful investment.
The EFL have to end it on Friday imo. To extend the deadline loses too much credibility. |

I haven't read the article as I don't have a Times sub, but in fairness the Trust does do a lot of good work in the Community and that does leave a gap that probably won't be filled by local services.
The paragraph doesn't fit well when we know the Football Club has a local charity / youth club on it's CVA document but clearly the Community Trust has nothing to do with the running of the club. I think you can sympathise with people who lose this community help whilst still not sympathising with the people involved at the club that have created this mess. |

Nothing more annoying than people suggesting the big clubs should bail troubled ones out.
The argument about distribution of wealth down the pyramid is one thing, getting the begging bowl out to big clubs because we spent 5 years signing the likes of Jermaine Beckford et al is embarrassing. |

Dawson was lined up to go to Salford but got injured a few weeks ago so couldn't be offloaded. They've been trying to agree a pay-off with Beckford but nothing doing at the moment. Bunn & Aldred are big earners out on loan but still have time on their contracts and we'll be saddled again in the summer.
Culling these players isn't as easy as it looks. Why would teams higher up the pyramid take them if they can't get in our side? Why would sides lower down take them if they're on big money and long contracts? Why would the players themselves leave if they're on decent money (assuming they're getting paid!)
The obvious point is to sell the high performers from the First XI - Mayor, O'Shea etc. Mayor is out of contract in the summer so clubs happy to wait. I believe the new SD promised Lowe no-one would be sold and put in £3million - probably to get us through the season & pay off the pressing creditors and then a concerted effort at a squad cull will happen in the summer.
As it happens I don't think we will go up anyway - we won't score 3 every week and we just cannot keep clean sheets. Play-offs at best but I suspect a late season drop down.
The question remains why a bloke with no obvious connection to Bury or football in general would take this sh!tstorm on. |

Bolton are Evns to get relegated with some bookies which is some going before a ball has been kicked. Forest are 10/3 to go up, not followed them this summer but nothing last season to justify any optimism.
Fancy Pulis to drag Boro up and Blackburn to go back down.
Pompey at 4/1 to be promoted will probably be my League 1 bet with Wycombe or Wimbledon to go down.
Lincoln up from League 2 with Morecambe to go down.
All a bit predictable if I'm honest. Might punt at Colchester to go down, 20/1. |

Thought we'd be in. Since a win at MK Dons on 27th October 2016, we've won 14 league games. Add in the 5-0 and 3-0 FA Cup defeats to Wimbledon and Woking respectively and it's been a fairly depressing 18 months or so. On our 5th manager in that time too.
I'll swap with Arsenal if any of them are finding it too much of a burden..! |

The game was over as a contest as soon as Rochdale scored, I think virtually everyone in the ground accepted that.
The second goal summed it up, started from Mayor cutting inside and hitting a powder-puff shot at goal and then straight down the other end for a clinical finish from Henderson.
Some fans chucked season tickets onto the pitch - slightly less dramatic when there's only two home games left but it'll be a struggle to market next season's tickets the way club is going.
Good luck for the rest of the season, it'll be some achievement if you make it. Unfortunately for you we still have Walsall, Northampton and Wimbledon to play so they've all got at least one freebie coming up. |

The ground was listed as an Asset of Community Value in 2014 after an application by Forever Bury.
The trust must be notified if the ground is to be sold and then have a six month period to put together their own bid for the stadium (which realistically would be out of their reach financially).
As others have said, not sure there'll be too much difficulty with the ground being sold for housing etc if that's the end game. |

We're gone, but we still have to play yourselves, MK, Wimbledon, Northampton, Donny so could have a big impact on other struggling sides assuming we continue to play with the endeavour that has been present since Lowe took over.
Would much prefer Oldham to come down with us but they're the form team of the bottom sides. |

Etuhu tended to be the anchorman in our midfield so we never saw the attacking side to his game and it's safe to say he never ran riot for us.
He was excellent in that holding role in our League 2 promotion season but bad injuries last season and the general sense that he couldn't be arsed in his brief appearances this season have seen his demise.
Could still do a job at this level but can't see him as a replacement for NML as alluded to in one of the earlier posts. |

I know a few Bury fans who aren't going to Bolton for the reasons outlined in the OP (although £26 a ticket probably helped the decision). I imagine if we don't get a positive result tonight then a few more will follow.
When the fixtures first game out I thought at least one of the games would be moved and I was hoping tonight's game may have been moved to Friday lunchtime but the last post makes sense about the need to keep Bank Holiday costs down.
Slightly surprised at the Bolton one being moved - the Macron has hosted much more high profile games and away followings in recent years than the IRS! |

Interesting read, and barely a mention of Bury..
I liked his piece about working with KH:
"We had no experience of management but our attitude was just ‘Let’s have a tear-up, let’s take everyone on and see what happens’. It was so pure and unspoiled, none of the bulls*** and politics of football."
I feel like he definitely lost his way in that sense at Bury. |
