Over 40 years for me - fell in love with the club as a very young lad taken to games by my father and to the Vetch on a Sunday by my grandfather Wilf Merriman who ran the Harry Griffiths bar for many years. In all of that time, the highest and the lowest feelings came just a few weeks apart - the lowest being that defeat my Bristol Rovers (Boxing Day I think) followed by our miraculously recovery from the New Year onwards climaxing in THAT win over Hull. One of these days I'll get round to adding the Vetch Field Memories stuff I've got onto the ATFV website...! |

George Eustace in the "George Peppard" role? Is this some unreleased version of The Dirty Dozen spectacularly uncovered in the vaults of a film studio? Or is it the version of the Dirty Dozen made in an alternate universe that saw Peppard and Lee Marvin swap their most famous roles of Hannibal Smith and Major Reiser respectively. Or maybe you got confused by the fact Peppard starred in an episode of Tales of the Unexpected entitled The Dirty Detail... |

If the Americans did any of the scare story things that have been suggested then they'd simply be cutting their own throats. Get rid of staff and things like commercial income will fall as there are reduced staff working in that department; hike up season ticket prices and watch as sales fall, reducing income. All of these things would affect the success and prosperity of the club and therefore make the asset they bought even more of a drag for them. They've already watched as the club's value has tumbled due to relegation and they already know that they have no chance of selling and getting their money back whilst we remain in the Championship. The last thing they need is to alienate a big chunk of their "customers" or reduce the chances of a return to the Premier League - which is the only way they'll be able to sell the club and get anywhere near their money back. Of course, what Res doesn't want to admit is that if the Trust wins the case and the Americans are instructed to buy the Trust's shares at the same price they paid to Jenkins & Co., the Americans likely recourse to salvage their £20m won't be via the club, it will be from the sellers. After all, it was jenkins and Dineen that convinced them that there was no shareholders agreement and that the Trust would never be any trouble. If a court of law rules differently then I'd imagine that the Americans will go after the sellers to get their money back. |

I may be wrong (I had to correct one part of my post above) and I'm sure Lisa will correct me if I am, but the impending litigation is against both those parties, buyers and sellers. I believe the original case was against the buyers only but that changed after a lot more work was done in the aftermath of the withdrawal of the offer that members voted to accept. |

I'll tell you what the Trust has been doing for the last 19 years - they've been playing a full and pivotal role in first saving the club, and then seeing it rise up the Leagues. As a significant stakeholder and with Board representation, the Trust were just as much a part of the decision making process as the likes of Jenkins, Dineen or Katzen. Indeed, Messrs Penny and Keefe - a pair of Directors who were also heavily involved in our success. What was the thanks they got? Jenkins, Dineen and the Americans trying to pressure them into resigning their positions and when they wouldn't, the former pair MAKING UP A FICTITIOUS BOARD MEETING and sending fake Minutes to Companies House to try to oust them illegally. I'm sure this Res fella will stop playing with his train sets long enough to try and spin that in a way that shows Jenkins/Dineen/Americans as misunderstood heroes for that incident , whilst the rest of the planet can just see the real evidence for themselves from the resulting legal case that they lost at an employment tribunal. This Res fella should also stop dissing the Trust - and by extension Swansea City Supporters - and remember that a certain Leon Britton was instrumental in our rise and success. And it was the Trust and the fans that raised the money to sign the lad...Mindy freakin' Kaling didn't throw even a cent into the Battle for Britton!! [Post edited 23 Jun 2021 15:46]

You wouldn't know a mathematical concept if Carol Vorderman smacked you over the head with it - as your humiliating suggestion that £700m would be needed to dilute the Trust proved. It's like every post you make regarding the Americans and the sellers - they just don't add up. |

" I worked on the railways and do not claim to understand jargon and technical accouting and business terms." Hang on, earlier in this thread you were going on about being involved with company dilutions etc - now you're The Fat Controller from Thomas the Tank Engine? No wonder you thought it would take £700m to dilute the Trust's holding and get entirely owned every time you try to be clever only to be thoroughly debunked by a professional and expert like Lisa. Think it's time you REMOVED, stop trying to smear the Trust and stick to cleaning railway sleepers...

Once again you demonstrate your total ignorance of the facts and reality - it's a Supporters Trust and therefore there are strict rules on what money received can and can't be used for. The prospect of the Trust "investing" in property or playing the stock market is a non starter due to the strict restrictions. So can you please stop using how any award would be used as a yet another stick to beat the Trust with. Those on the Trust Board will know exactly what they can and can't do with any settlement or award and I would imagine they would draw up various proposals and put them to the membership. |

Do you actually believe the garbage you post? You're trying to say that the Americans made an offer, in order to head off potential litigation, waited for the Trust to go through a ballot on whether to accept, watched the Trust membership vote to accept that deal, and then withdrew the offer because of "in fighting". That simply isn't true and you know it. It was withdrawn because they tried to change the terms and the price of the deal that was on the table, which was rightly refused, and after a few months of negotiation they panicked as we were staring relegation in the face and they didn't want to buy shares that could conceivably crash in value within weeks. |

If I remember correctly, the Americans changed the terms of the deal after the Trust members voted to accept it. it went something along the lines of they'd made a mistake with the price of shares because of some of the built in incentives/perks that other selling shareholders received and they wanted to change the deal to a lower price. After months of negotiations - and relegation becoming an ever likely possibility - the Americans withdrew the offer. Again, if I remember correctly we went on to actually stay up at the end of that season, but the deal was dead in the water. |

The nail. very firmly hit on the head - this was a one off chance to ensure the Swans would never be at the mercy of owners like Petty again, and the likes of Jenkins and Dineen pumped out the rhetoric and basked in the glory of it. But when it came down to it, rather than follow through on all of those promises, they sold us out, stabbed the Trust in the back and ensured that the supporters organisation could not protect the club in the future... ...and they did that by devious means and they did to ensure they were not just rich from a sale, but mega rich and with long, very lucrative employment contracts at the club too. History will judge them - especially if all the dirty little secrets like faking Board meeting Minutes to force out longstanding Directors (again so they could cash in) come out in a court of law. |

Plus the minor inconvenience of it being the middle of a freakin' global pandemic that stopped income coming in through gate receipts etc, with every Football League club pleading subsequent poverty and clamouring for urgent Premier League financial assistance. But against that backdrop we should have been convincing Levy that we could take or leave his offer without a second thought. Maybe we should have tried hypnotism on him? As others have tried to explain in lucid fashion throughout this thread, we had little choice. The player wanted to go, an auction between both Manchester clubs, Spurs and others didn't materialise and our already precarious financial state was being magnified by the effects of Covid. Whilst the money we got up front for Joe was low, it enabled is to not only keep trading but strengthen other areas of the squad. |

Firstly I didn’t claim we were taking credit for the upturn in form - the point was any protesting (and there’s been very little of it during games and I don’t advocate it) clearly wasn’t hindering the efforts on the pitch. That upturn is down to CC and his players. Whatever the fortunes in timing of his availability it still remains that Jenkins appointed him and that is to be applauded. It has given us a chance. Secondly, selling responsibly would have given us that security and safety - that’s not a fairytale, it is reality. A Trust shareholding of 25% would have made so much difference and yet the sellers snubbed and ignored all efforts to make that happen. Instead they sold 75% voting rights and changed the Artuckes of Association, leaving those Americans that you berate so much in total control. They did that, they dismantled all of the safeguards and left us at the mercy of people you keep telling us are not fit to run the club. As for the Trust they’ve been placed in a Trust tough position by the sellers and treated like dirt by the buyers. The next move by the Trust is crucial because there can be no peace until OUR £20m stake in the club is either properly protected or cashed in - watching that stake get reduced to nothing is totally unacceptable. I’m genuinely curious here though; you say the Trust are again failing us and you want them to step up to the mark. What is it you want them to do? Because it seems like you are suggesting the Trust should “make a stand” or “fight back” - but that would be the total opposite to your “do nothing and be grateful” stance that you’ve bullishly been pushing for some time now. Edited to add: Congrats on the impending arrival, a point I originally missed! [Post edited 3 Feb 2018 0:21]

Many do not have the sort of support that I have - family, friends and a massively understanding Boss so from that perspective I’m very lucky. And you’re right, health does have to come first which is why I reluctantly took a step back. Didn’t make doing so any easier, especially as I feel I let down the others in the SCSA that have worked so hard producing the Fanzine and arranging the meeting. When it finally came to delivering those I wasn’t there for them. That’s why I felt it right to speak out on this thread because the abuse and ridicule towards long term, dedicated fans that have the best interest of the club in their hearts and in their actions had to be challenged. |

Thank you, and yes I’m getting better thank you very much. It was a dark time last week but I have awesome family and friends around me who always keep me safe and well. I posted on here because mental health issues are so serious and important and I don’t know what posting was made and removed but something derogatory must have been said. I also felt that those that are a part of the SCSA and fans that agree with what they stand for were being demonised and ridiculed unfairly. If my embarrassingly honest posting redresses the balance on either of those subjects then my discomfort will be worth it! |

That means a lot! I don’t pretend to be a football expert, I never try to kid anyone that I’m eloquent, but I speak from the heart and always try to be balanced, taking a situation on its own merits. I spoke out at the last Forum because I felt it was needed but I certainly didn’t enjoy it because I’m still a massive supporter of the Trust. Let’s have a beer at the next Forum if we’re both there |

None of us want to be fighting against the club, we all want to still be in that golden period that the selling shareholders did so much to bring us. BUT things are very, very wrong behind the scenes and it’s a case of making a stand to try and protect the club’s long term future. What happens with the Trust’s shareholding is pivotal to that future. I thought we wouldn’t be in this position again - and if the sellers had acted responsibly we wouldn’t have been. That’s what hurts the most. |
