So it's back to reality. Last Saturday great. We were all buzzing. But when you can't defend successive corners there's no chance. Warbs admitted as much in his post-match interview but what is he going to do about it? We've seen this non-stop throughout last season. Four free headers for Coventry from corners. Lumley did well to save one - two others just missed and then the goal. If Warbs can't sort this out and he's had a long time to do so - then we'll be struggling again especially as we don't have the firepower anymore of Nakhi, Jordan and Ebs. We know the club is constrained by money but we have to have a more dominating goalkeeper. Lumley's distribution is good. It has improved but his goalkeeping lacks command and control. Liam Kelly is in the same league - not really good enough. So Dieng must be given a chance. But it's going to be unlikely isn't it? Wallace - was a disaster when marking - when conceding that first goal just before half-time. Team confidence then just disappeared. So we need a left-back please (Ryan Manning if he ever plays for us again is really a midfielder) and as others have said - why can't we defend from corners. All of us knew it was going to happen when we could have at least grabbed a draw. I don't know why I keep punishing myself watching. We can all enjoy QPR if we just did the basics - good defence, reasonable attack. When I was the local Sports Editor in the 70s QPR were a joy to watch. I don't expect us to get anywhere near those heights but let's have a team that does the basics right.
You know when it's going wrong when we pass continually sideways then backwards. Lumley must have touched the ball plenty of times from back passes instead of us driving forward. Dykes is a good striker if he had the chance - Smyth has the pace - but it's all down to confidence and if we can't defend I'll take 15-20th place now.

Thought Dykes was very isolated. Need to get him into play more. Appalled by the defending at set pieces. Dunno why we insist to not have players on the sticks to help the keeper. Soft penalty.
