Russell was so close today just proves Hamilton wins because he's in the best car NOW PUT HAMILTON IN A WILLIAMS AND SEE WHAT HE DOES

Why are you surprised, Russell has been fast all year. It's a Williams, so he was never going to win a race but getting a point in a Williams would have been an achievement.

Re Hamilton, he's been in slow McLaren's and still out-performed the car. Across a season in a Williams I'd bet he'd take a point or two. Verstapen and Lecler too but not many drivers would and Russell is right up there with those three for talent.

Nonsense. Hamilton has consistently performed at the highest level for 13 years. He holds the record number of wins and record number of pole positions, and shares the record number of world championship wins with Michael Schumacher. All of this has been achieved in a shorter timespan and fewer races than the legendary German driver.

All today proves is that Russell is a driver of great potential but ultimately he (and Bottas) fell short whereas Lewis gets the job done.

Here we go again with the Hamilton hate, yawn.

7 world titles (would be 8 or 9 but for bad luck), nearly 100 GP wins, record number of pole positions. Yet he only did all of this by being in the best car all the time and being lucky.

How did he beat Vettel (a 4 time world champ himself) in the seasons the Ferrari was a better car? Because he did. More than once. Doesn't suit the narrative I know.

Oh and the best team thing. The best teams in all sports have the best players. The strongest/richest teams can pay the most for the best talent. So they go and get it. Hamilton is the best right now, probably Verstappen the closest of the rest but he's more like Hamilton when he was younger and less experienced. Fast, brilliant but a bit raw. He too will get better and win titles.

Saying put the best driver in an uncompetitive car and see how he goes is a bit like asking Mo Salah to win the champions league while playing for Port Vale, a stupid argument.

Bottas is well overdue a big kick up the arse as he hardly ever matches Hamilton.

Maybe call up Mercedes and let them know they could still win nearly every race with anyone who has a licence in their untouchable car? They'd be grateful for the cost savings I'm sure. Expect to see their recruiters outside a local driving test centre soon!

Sure I'm not the only one thinking much of the recent online criticism of Hamilton has far more to do with his vocal stance on things like BLM than anything to do with F1 and actual driving.
