The job Redknapp did in the Summer was enormous. The problems were just too deep. The main problem that hasn't really been solved is the striker - which is obvious to all of us, including TF. I cannot believe that Harry doesn't also recognise it. But give the man a break.
In the Summer, he knew Remy was going, AJ was fit (at the time) and Zamora was fit enough. Hitchcock hadn't done enough to warrant a place as a first team striker. When he couldn't get Hooper, he got Austin and he's had to adjust formations to cope with the (predictable) absence of BZ and AJ. Presumably, Chevanton never did enough to convince an experienced management team that he was a Championship striker. With hindsight, the decisions to rely on BZ and/or AJ, to let Chevanton go, before bringing Hitchcock back from loan, look like errors. But there's been plenty of others who haven't helped the manager.
Playing 4-5-1, over which he has had little choice, relies on contributions from midfield. Where are they? Hoilett's been the most disappointing, but you can also add Henry, Carroll, SWP, Jenas and Krancjar (who can't hit a barn door, despite all his efforts) to that.
The issue, though, is the same one we've had for 18 months, and it isn't likely to be solved without another big spend. Because good Championship strikers are not ten a penny. TF has suggested (Twitter) that there might only be one deal in January. It's up to Harry to ensure that it is the right one. |  |

As you say the problems run deep and as a club we're just not set up in a way that organically produces success.

Remy went on loan for obvious reasons. Taarabt went on loan because he refused to play for the club, yet nobody would come close to matching his wages, so we have to subsidize him to (not) play for the clubs rivals.

is worrying I have to admit, point is a point I suppose but we really do have to sort ourselves out another striker. Like mentioned how has Harry allowed this to happen, all he did was constantly bring in midfielders and was lured by big names. Still i think he will set it right in the end |
We're still in a good position but this mini-implosion is needless.
Redknapp has to look in the mirror and shoulder the blame. Our players are good enough, they have the attitude and the ability but lack a truly passionate manager to inspire and lead them.
Our playing style, our tactics, our application has to be sharper. Where this kick in the arse will come from I don't know. I thought 'Arry would have learnt that you can't play the same team throughout the entire season. Spurs got found out after New Year in his last season there and imploded dramatically.
