Parker on 13:19 - Aug 14 with 3310 views | adhoc_qpr | Like Hooper, if Parker has an option in the Prem, i can't see any reason why he wouldn't take it? Especially if it's Fulham or Palace so he doesn't even have to move. The only way he'll sign for us is if we are the only offer on the table (which begs a different question of why...) or we match his inflated Spurs salary and no one else will (repeating our mistakes).

Yes but he has no chance of getting in the England squad in a world cup year if he comes to us, where a good run of form at Fulham at the right time could see him on the plane to Brasil. I really cannot see any player who has England world cup ambitions coming to us this year. Its the same in any world cup year, players dont want to drop a league. On a separate note if we had done a deal on Granero with Fulham then they would not be in for Parker

They look a bit short on forwards - can have Zamora back if they like.

where a good run of form at Fulham at the right time could see him on the plane to Brasil. But If QPR run away with league, England are short at holding midfielder....Scotty looks good. If he cant sniff a first team place behind Boateng he has no chance........AND at 33 is looking at retirement.

No chance would Parker (or Defoe for that matter) get picked for England after joining us. The England Manager is an easy target anyway - give the press the kind of ammo that he's picked a player who doesn't even play in the Prem (gasp) and he's making a rod for his own back! Especially when it's only a backup player anyway, much easier to pick a big club benchwarmer like Barry or Rodwell etc and avoid the aggro. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I don't see Parker getting picked regardless of who he's playing for next season.

Its not what you think that counts though, if he believes there is a a whiff of a possibility he will go to Fulham or whichever prem club that will take him, if he believes that no matter how well he performs he will be overlooked he will come to us

Sorry, don't agree.More chance of being picked as a regular first teamer in a successful lower side than an unfavoured Prem bench warmer.Never hindered Mickey Channon playing in the second tier. Probably there would have to be a massive injury epidemic before Parker was picked anyway.

Parker on 14:21 - Aug 14 with 2913 views | baz_qpr | There is no chance of being picked from the championship. However he might start as a bench warmer, but a good run of games and good form should the opportunity arise could see a recall. If he believes that might be the case, he or any other professional footballer will take that gamble to play in the World Cup in Brasil.

Parker on 15:24 - Aug 14 with 2720 views | DylanP | http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11711/8869449/transfer-news-qpr-hopeful- Sky article doesn't really add much to what we already know. Apparently, there are reports that he has undergone a medical at QPR and that Palace and Fulham are also in the race to sign him, which we already knew. Currie dropped down a division and was terrific for us. Mind you, Venables had a lot more young players in the squad to balance things out -- Allen, Goddard, Waddock, etc. [Post edited 14 Aug 2013 15:27]

Parker on 15:47 - Aug 14 with 2632 views | QPRDave | If we agree a deal for Granero to go to Fulham will they then not want Parker? Are they trying to force our hand?...Do we have a recall on Tarbs? ..Should we threaten them with this?..Is it raining where you are?...Has anyone seen the meteor shower?. Do i ask far too many questions?

Parker on 16:00 - Aug 14 with 2583 views | daveB | dropping down a division won't make much difference to defoe's england chances, england have so few options up front he could play in the confrence and still be in the squad. Not that I think either of them will sign though, both will get clubs in the prem wanting them

Couldn't disagree more! Any English player occasionally stumbling onto the pitch for a 'big 6' club in a meaningless cup match will get picked for England over a more deserving player from a smaller club. Did Raheem Sterling really merit a call up ahead of say Nathan Dyer or Wayne Routledge on form last season? Zaha got picked for the squad purely by joining Man Utd without even playing for them yet! The likes of Ricky Lambert will get the odd cap, but he'll be ditched for Carroll and Sturridge the moment they are fit unless he scores a hattrick or something.

Sterling was picked to ensure he played for England rather than Jamaica, same with Zaha & Ivory Coast. So poorly picked examples but I actually agree with you, majority of England squads are just picked from Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal etc. Cleverley never got a look in when on loan at Wigan, plays a couple of games for Utd & he's straight in the squad despite playing just as well for Wigan. If Baines was playing for Utd for the last 2 years he'd probably be 1st choice LB by now.

You might have a point with Sterling and Zaha - but as you say looking at the squad Cleverly, Welbeck, Cahill, Walker and Jones were all Prem regulars who didn't get England calls until they moved to bigger clubs.

And they often play better for the smaller clubs than the big clubs. Cahill was far better at Bolton than Chelsea in my opinion. Scott Parker was immense at Charlton but disappeared at Chelsea. Carrick doesn't do much at Utd in my opinion but was superb at Spurs.

ur totally right, although I totally think Hodgson is wrong in selecting players due to playing at a top 6 side, prob y we lack fight and spirit
