I think some people are missing the sarcasm in this thread.

but like it or not - there will be some "supporters" who will boo our own players or throw around as much negativity as they can. have you seen a thread recently that doesnt decend into an anti SWP or Zamora diatribe?

Almost against my own judgement I thought there was a little spell towards the end of the season (before he got injured) where there were sparks of why SWP once went for huge transfer fees - little touches here and there but definately signs of the player he was once.

I'm hoping he's just half-@rsing it through the friendlies and he'll be good tomorrow.

The fans have never really taken to him but I thought he was good in his first season with us before he quite clearly needed to just rest up his hip (which hasn't really happened for some bizarre reason)

I think we're all fickle enough to have our opinions changed by a few good performances. If SWP suddenly scores a couple, we'll be on his side. Nobody gets booed for playing well or scoring.

If Barton plays then he's right in the firing line the first time he misplaces a pass.

If things aren't going well though my money will be on Henry.
Hopefully our 'supporters' will realise that getting on a player's back is unlikely to help him improve his performance.
