Possible next managers... 08:07 - Apr 25 with 32680 viewsGloucs_R

I can't see this blowing over with a happy outcome so looking forward. Who works you like to see take the helm?

Options could be...

Gary O'Neill
Russell Martin
Liam Rosenior
Steve Cooper
Will Still

I think it's inevitable Brian. Sadly.

Ideally, id love to see a headline saying Marti looks forward to next season but let's be honest, he's going

May I be the first to say Marti Cifuentes.

I will always maintain that we’ll be hindered having any manager with a one syllable Christian name.

Neil Warnock was the outlier, but if you’ve ever heard Terry Venables Blue & White Army rolling over the Cambridgeshire flatlands on a foggy winters afternoon you’ll know what I mean.

I hope Nourry takes this into account.

Agree 💯 but when have you ever seen something like this blow over? That's probably a discussion for the other thread.

With what Clive said on the other thread, can we keep this one to just options as to who could take over please?

Seconded I desperately want Marti to stay and the owners need to get Marti and Nourry in a room and sort this out.

I dont think he was ever going to stay beyond this year unless we were genuinely challenging and even then likely to have been poached.

I suspect the next manager will not be anyone we have heard of, and will be a similar type of appointment

I think Andrew Scherer has it right on the QPR podcast / openallRs.

Putting to one side views on MC (I like him, want him to stay etc.), if the direction of the club is to embed a culture, game model, recruitment strategy etc., as opposed the approach taken for years which was to bring in a manager, buy him a squad, sack / lose the manager, replace him with another manager, buy him a squad etc etc., then surely if it is a battle between MC and CN, then it has to be CN that stays and MC that goes. I don't want that, but logically it has to happen unless the owners throw everything in the air again and make a mockery of their declared approach.

And given that, the next manager has to be someone who fits the profile of the all of the other things at the club.

All of which is a long way of saying, I don't think drawing up a wish list of various managers is the way to approach the question. I'd be quite alarmed if the next appointment was a relatively well known and successful manager, rather than someone a bit leftfield (like MC), because it would likely mean that they aren't approaching manager recruitment in a way that makes sense to the club strategy.

Just to be totally clear, I'll be absolutely gutted if / when MC leaves at the end of the season. I agree with previous comments that there is a bitter irony that the club appear to be finally doing things in a sensible and progressive way - but have managed to find a way of doing it badly, i.e. recruiting a very inexperienced CEO/DF/All-of-the-jobs to oversee the whole thing, who doesn't seem to be able to work with precisely the kind of exciting manager you'd want.

The season hasn't finished yet so now is not the time.

Talking about fans favourites to succeed Marti, is just encouraging Christian to believe he has a decent percentage of supporters backing, in any discussions for the future direction of the club.

If Marti is going I think we will know within a week or so after May 3rd. Then we can start looking at options.

100%.

Sorry, Gloucs, and no offence, but this feels off to me.

Funny in a way as your response feels as though someone has died. Which just shows how much most fans rate / like / respect Marti.

If it does happen then I can’t believe Rosenior would even consider it. Apparently a very bright coach and seems to be doing very well in France. Can’t believe he’d sack that off for us and he’d have better offers should he want to come back to England. Similarly Still- surely out of our league.

I don’t think O’Neil would be the lazy ex-player, appease the fans decision it could be portrayed as. Still think there’s a good young manager in there somewhere albeit a bit scarred by Wolves.

Let's not be naive , pound to a penny Nourry looks at this message board, he's 27 so I'm guessing uses social media extensively.

Nice to see someone has kept their sense of humour.

There's as much chance of that lot coming here as there is of Nourry appointing a Head of Spiritualism Performance and asking Terry Venables to do it with Dave Sexton as assistant.

If we are foolish enough to get rid of Marti I think the name of the next manager will be Mr. A. Puppet.

Funnily enough, I was wondering if he might, and concluded that he probably would.

In which case: he's either sat wetting himself or loving it in the full knowledge of knowing what's coming down the pipes.

I was chatting with a mate who regularly sits in the boxes, and he said Kim Jung had certainly lost his swagger since becoming the Dear Leader. Especially during the bad run early doors, frequently looking overwhelmed. However, I can't help thinking he's built an ivory tower around himself and 'if' MC leaves, KJ would be wise to open up on things.

I suspect he also needs to realise - and maybe does - that there are a lot of smart and successful people who can sniff BS a mile off among our breatheren, and who could easily pick him off if he continues to try and lord himself over us.

It wouldn’t be anyone from that list, it would be a data driven appointment, quite likely from overseas that will have Norf copy and pasting his Wikipedia page and then posters saying that 63.7% win ration with Lokomotiv Plovdiv in 2019 looks quite tasty.

Norwich spent £32 million on their squad this season.

Don't think we're quite comparable.
