Sir George did a lot of arranging for The Beatles. A huge influence on the band, channeling and focusing all that energy and creativity. You can hear the bands progression with each album.
As for The Beatles being a bit crap, well they were knocking out two albums a year in those early years, making films, touring, so we can forgive an occasional dodgy track. I always took What Goes On as a vehicle for the Ringo fans as Act Naturally was.
Stories emerged over the years of certain Beatles not liking certain songs. For instance both Paul and John loathed I'm Happy Just To Dance With You and neither wanted to record the vocal for it which is why George ended up doing it. |  | | |
