In injury time in the second half, someone threw a bottle at one of their players from the safe standing section (Stan Bowles) stand.
It landed off the pitch.
But the referee ran from the centre circle, right over to where it landed, picked it up and then ran directly right across the pitch and placed it, in front of one of the dug outs, off the pitch, then ran to the centre circle and then blew his whistle to restart the game.
This took nearly two minutes of the six minutes injury time.
Great sh*thousery by the ref. Did Sheffield s job for them !!!
CCTV could surely have sorted this.
Was this absolutely necessary ??

They walked that game, and never had to get out of 2nd gear. Their midfield bossed ours, their movement was better, their control of the game was better. Nothing wrong with that, they spent a fortune and are still pretty crap and they'll get battered next season.
We are still unable to control a game and put sustained pressure on teams, we are a counter attack team due to the ongoing problem in central midfield.
We gave it a good go though, but Sheff Utd deserved it. |

Do you honestly think that any team can just walk through a game in 2nd gear?Especially one managed by Wilder?
Maybe they couldn’t get out of 2nd gear because we played so well?Why is it when top teams don’t win more comfortably it’s always because they didn’t need to,rather than the opposition stopping them playing as well as they undoubtedly can do. |  | | |

I love this forum .
But I do get infuriated when a subject is brought up to discuss and then people choose to think that because people are discussing it, then that’s the sole reason for losing .
It’s just one topic for heavens sake!!!
After every game there are 100 discussion topics that can be brought up about all sorts of things win or lose. Whether it is , the performance , the formation , the players chosen, the opposition, the officials, the pitch , the kit , the weather , the away end , the view , the day out , man of the match , who was terrible or was great and on and on and on. None of which are solely to blame . They are part of a match day experience .
It’s incredibly lazy to think that anyone here is “blaming the officials” for us losing yesterday .
Not read 1 person suggest that.
Just move on to a thread you do want to contribute too. The officials along with 99 other things are a relevant discussion point and if you don’t think so then tell Clive to stop scoring them , giving them a paragraph match review and a pre game report then?

For what it’s worth , I thought we were schooled first half yesterday . They were much better than us all over the pitch . Can’t say the same for the second half but they did seem to somewhat declare a little after the second goal.
Maybe because we were much better I don’t know .
We did ok but we just didn’t quite have enough on the day . I suspect we might be saying that again in a few days . |  | | |

We rarely threatened in the second half, and not at all after we scored the penalty. I thought they did well, allowing Varane to pick the ball up deep knowing he won't/can't create anything. And Varane created naff all. | | | |

Got Chair, Frey , Saito, Dembele, Smyth, Lloyd and Yang on the pitch , yet Varane was the one who didn’t create anything .

In your opinion that is.So they didn’t bust a gut trying to get more goals to improve their GD,or to make the game safe,and Wilder was happy to allow them to stroll around once they went in front?

There is no doubt if he was not already booked that was a yellow card all day so yes the ref let it go because he did not want to send him off end of story.
I wont mention the resulting free kick that resulted in the usual fast break oppertunity that normally happens .

There was I believe 9 minutes of added time basically giving us 99 minutes of football In which to put the football into the Sheffield United's net three time, Ifso factso winning the game.
