Transfer policy massively attack orientated at expense of defensive cover !! 22:23 - Feb 26 with 806 viewsnumptydumpty

Our transfers this season seem to be unearthing many talents at the top end of the pitch. Many gems seemingly found in attack orientated roles.

But we seem to be very top heavy.

Last few games, most subs are attack with very few defenders replaced.

With more and more young players found from all over but how few have we had in defence.

The focus in the summer has clearly got to be at the back.

We.literally don't need much more at all upfront.

Sure it's being looked at but does seem a poor oversight recently.

Fingers crossed the new Paul Parker Darren Peacock Clive Wilson Dave Bardsley need to be found.

Get cracking on that database please Mr Nourry...

True enough, although there is Morrison. Also in the last window we brought in the Aberdeen lad and the lad from Chelsea who can (apparently) literally play anywhere when he is fit.
I agree there is also much more uncertainty about our defence, with Dunne/Paal/Cook out of contract and Edwards/Ashby on loan. Definitely should be our area of focus for the summer - plus the 20 goal striker of course.

Morrison and Edwards must play golf

I think our policy is geared towards developing players for a profit, and attacking players are worth more in the transfer market

Although, I'd still argue we are light in strikers at the club

Perhaps two of the better incomings were Morrison and Edwards, both CB. Add Ashby and consider that the only significant defender going out was Lakeche, imho we padded up the defence considerably. On paper at least.

You could argue Kakay and Drew are outgoings also (and Cannon), but they would have played bit-part roles at best.

I haven't seen a report on how Esquerdinha is doing, anyone?

Next year probably depends on JCS being fit again, Cook getting an extension, Dunne staying. So potentially a bit of replacement to be done.
