And breathe... - Simon Dorset's annual deep dive into the accounts 15:41 - Feb 26 with 1241 viewsNorthernr

Big thanks to Simon for crunching the numbers again...

QPR’s accounts for the 2023/24 season, which started with Gareth Ainsworth and ended with Marti Cifuentes, show a £13.5m loss, apparently just about squeaking the club under the FFP line for permitted losses over three years – Simon Dorset digs into the figures for LFW. 3

A good read. Thanks Simon for putting this piece together.

Norf...you seem to be aware of other clubs in the division and those that are getting into financial trouble. Do you think that now we appear to have stabilised, we may be ahead of the curve that some other clubs are yet to navigate?

I'm still gonna ask him to explain it all on Saturday.

Exactly what I was thinking and presuming all accounts are out at the same time?

Great stuff, Simon.

Can I just ask once for the record, though - what exact date range is this?

Thanks.

Insane that we weren't monetising the sponsorship and advertising for years. Maybe now we can get a Watford-style arrangement in place with a European club and shift Taylor Richards for £20m.

Just under the bar, unlike a Hugill shot.

So reading this, next accounts will include Colback etc, but after that we should see a noticeable reduction in wages as their expired contracts feed through.

We do seem to be heading in the right direction, and fair play to Nourry who has at least put a plan regarding player development back at the heart of the club, which can only help us financially.

But is that 31st May 2024, as per the document posted earlier in the week, or is it up to the end of June which is when contracts traditionally end?

Because there was chat on here for the last few days that it these figures included the summer signings.

There's a paragraph right at the end on "post filing events" which basically gives a preview of what they did in the summer that will appear in next season's accounts.

It's the problem with the financial year not quite matching up with the football one - selfish.

QPR seem to be getting their income>player salaries ratio down year on year. 92% is still not good but it is coming down.

Do we become less competitive for now? Probably, yes. Do we survive? Most definitely.

Hopefully there will become a time where other clubs decide to cut their cloth and we can then become competitive having already been ahead of the curve.

The only way you're going to do that is with significant player sales, or a Premier League promotion.

The corner flag photo has come out, which can only mean one thing for QPR - the accounts are out.

Says a lot about our club, most clubs drop the corner flag photo when there's been a serious incident.

Thank you Simon - Great summary.

Great we squeaked in under the FFP bar and thank god for our owners continuing to fund these massive losses.

By god we could do with Eze moving on for £50M in the summer. I'm surprised no one (Man Utd, Spurs or even Arsenal) have not come in for him.

One year and counting we still have that waste Taylor Richards on the payroll.

That's depressing :(

In the 5 or so years before finally reaching the Prem, Brentford sold around 10 players for 5 million plus each...including biggies like Benrahma and Watkins...and replaced them well enough to keep upward momentum and eventually not only go up, but stay there.

Now we all know about Benham's business / advantage with player info etc etc - but it still shows it can be done this way.

Cheers Simon.

I'm assuming that the increase in payments from Sky will more than compensate for the increase in wages this season. This is the price that we appear to have to pay for the lack of 3.00pm Saturday games!

Isn’t that the same gap that Leicester exploited with the change of prem and championship status ?

Neither in one or the other when it suited them and therefore avoided the serious point deduction and fines.

Smart legal advice and poor football admin. No doubt City will find something similar to exploit amongst the 100+

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?
