I'm certainly no Paal hater, and I appreciate it's not his first language, but honestly - he doesn't seem the brightest tool in the box, does he? His interview's only 3 minutes long, but I didn't even make it to the end. Come on, Ken, throw us a bone, man! I'm not asking for Brian Glanville levels of sporting analysis, but is 'taking it game by game' really the best you can do? Today was one game, and your team mates didn't show up, so that cliche isn't even very relevant, is it, if you think about it?
This tendency of our players, and sometimes our manager, seeming to have no idea about why we perform so badly when we do worries me. Wouldn't you think, for your own professional self-respect if nothing else, you'd try to think of something to say before going in front of a camera? It was the same with Field after Swansea, if memory serves. Absolutely shocking first half in particular, but, again, he didn't have a clue as to why.
I must be missing something! These are professionally coached players. Is it they just don't think about their team and what they're doing, or they don't really care?
I think it is a bit unfair to single out Paal on this performance from the team. What baffles me more is how he can speak almost without moving his lips? And being slightly out of sync without actually being out of sync?

Did not see the game but I think Paal has been very dissapointing all season both with his defending and his deliveries so the non move in the Summer really effected him and us. Hard to figure out QPR even with Marti talking a good game we are just not consistant enough and its very frustrating . Hammering Derby ,taking a well earned 3 days off then coming out today not ready is not any good. We have been very poor for the first half a lot of times this season and usually pick it up after the break but today nothing it sounds like. Now we head towards a killer stretch lets hope we can get going again

He drifts inside far too often, leaves 2 on 1 down the right hand side , don’t know whether he’s been instructed to but it’s bloody obvious from where I stand in the lower loft.

1 - I see no issues whatsoever with Paal's interview. Some people are not as comfortable in front of the camera as other, everyone if different.
2 - He played better than most yesterday, worked very hard. So no issues with his performance n the pitch yesterday either. There were a lot of other players who did not do as much as Paal yesterday.

I don't think Paal is that bad. I think he was unsettled at the end of last season and probably still is. I can't fault his efforts. He works hard but does sometimes switch off.
Listen, I am not his biggest fan and think that he phoned things in at the start of this season. He wants away at the end of this season and that is absolutely fine, but help the club out by sorting a move out last summer.
HOWEVER, since Illy has come back into the team, his game has lifted. Whether that is down to Chair or down to Paal wanting to play for a move, I dunno, but there has been an improvement and he was one of our better players yesterday. Not great by any stretch, but better than Cook, Dunne, Edwards, Field, Varane, Frey, Nardi and Smyth yesterday, who were collectively very very poor.
I will not miss him when he does leave us this summer though...

He does not drift inside far too often.......it is his job, as a left sided defender, to support his CBs and you cannot do that sitting out wide. That is how it works in defending your goal. He would not have been instructed to do that, it is a requirement of a left sided defender.

The bigger question for me is on what basis the media team decide who to interview after each game.
Why interview Ken Paal when you already know that his English - though certainly passable - is not fluent, after a game in which he wasn't particularly a focus?
Why not interview Steve Cook as the captain and the player who was directly culpable for the second goal, especially as he's been the player issuing the rallying call for quick improvements whn we've let ourselves down previously?
As usual, our beloved Mr. Elbow has gone in unnecessarily over the top with phrases like "clueless" - I think Marti himself gave his usually balanced and precise post-match analysis of how we lost this match, and he is surely the one best placed to do that anyway.
Accusing the players of not caring is a bit "clueless" in itself..

But not when you’re leaving your man free to maraud down the wing at will which has happened a few times.
