Few videos going around of the stadium at a soft opening for an U18 game. Looks very impressive and with the surrounding areas identity kept and restored adding a lot of charm and character.

Champion league finals level of security and hold up places that may test the faithfuls patience.

Also nice to see hordes of blue seats not red ones for a change in a decent stadium.

No family now in the UK so visits fewer but if and when would try and go to a game.

Great looking stadium but just hope they don't do a Spurs and become a tourist club. Really use the opportunity to be a competitive club that's been missing for years/decades.

I mean maybe it's different when you're there but it looks like every other ground that accidentally ended up in Bundesliga 2 after a period of mismanagement.

Just looks like a big bowl with some shiny corporate areas to me.
I suppose when you are a club of that size you can't build a new stadium like Brentford or Rotherham which keeps some character.
Liverpool have managed to get the best of both worlds with their Anfield redevelopment. Seats 61k now with tons of corporate facilities but is still very much Anfield.

Please god by us when it comes to savvy stadium redevlopment!

I had been following the stadium progress updates on YouTube, it's a good looking stadium and it's good how they have kept the heritage such as restoring the listed hydraulic tower.

Not sure what it's going to be like being right next to a sewage plant though.

Probably much the same as being as close to Anfield as they were.

Part of the design brief was to base it on the Germany's use of steeped stands, particularly at Dortmund, so it's not surprising it looks a bit like one too!

About three months ago, I took a walk from the City Centre up through Vauxhall to Bramley-Moore. Aside from passing a number of closed pubs, some unusual dock entrances (also closed)and the largest brick building in the world, there is little of interest until you reach the stadium. It sticks out a mile, actually it would anywhere, except Disneyland. But saying that, it's not ugly, just different, reminded me of an electric shavers head for some reason. The ground still has the old dock wall around it, which I hope they retain and a reminder that the people of Liverpool have the lowest percentage of car ownership as there is very little parking, though I'm partial to the inner city location myself.
Taking a few pics and having a good gawk, I fell into conversation with a couple of Everton fans who'd also popped along for a look, we noted the place looked finished and although there were a number of 'keep out' signs, no hard hats were evident, so we decided to break the law and went in for a look see.
It is a Tardis type experience, the place seems much bigger inside than it does from the exterior (presume they've dug down), and my overall impression was that it had a good football feel to it.

Then we were told to sling our hooks.

Right next to a waste water management company, and has detracted from the wonderful old docks area.

Not too sure about 'parking' as articulated trucks park up along the road at weekends, sometimes both sides of the road. (Dock Road).

Nearest Station isnt too far away but limited amount of fans on the platform...... Sandhills Station

Unless things have really changed i'm not sure about car parking, except in the grounds of the Titanic Hotel

There's major construction (was) going on at that station. One of the workers said it was a huge waiting area and trains would be lined up to take fans away after the match, but I couldn't make out the scale of the project.

They can't dig down because that would then be water. It's sitting on an old dock that was filled in and levelled out with the stadium built on top.

The Nou Camp was dug down. It was a surreal experience walking in at ground level to find you're actually on the middle tier!

Hmmmmmmm,

The closest station as mentioned is Sandhills.

It is a centre platform with a face each side, into scousetown, and towards Southport, with Sandhills being a junction that has a 'spur' to Ormskirk and Kirkby.

I'm in that area tomorrow, so will have a looksie

It’s not very accurate though as it has the capacity of the Lego stadium as 20k,but it’s smaller than ours.

@RangersDave: "Right next to a waste water management company, and has detracted from the wonderful old docks area."

I'm not sure of the relevance of the first part?

As for the second, not having a pop at you, what do you consider to be "wonderful" about a vast Victorian industrial wasteland, which hasn't seen activity or habitation for nearly half a century?

And which no-one else was a damned bit interested in doing anything with, any more than they are with the other disused docks further along.

Imo, if this stadium leads to regeneration of an otherwise unused, unwanted and frankly barren space near the city centre, then that is surely a good thing?

(Meanwhile, when the Docks were originally built, there were probably people complaining about the despoilation of the old salt marshes which were formerly there.)

Your last comment is an interesting one. If people did complain about the salt mashes disappearing when the docks were built, they had a point. Today salt marshes are recognised as vital for bird life, as much needed carbon sinks, plus protection against flooding and coastal erosion. These issues would not have been well understood 200 years ago, but they are today.

For over eight millennia people have foraged here on the Sefton coastline for the delicacy known as Formby asparagus. While further down the coast in the major conurbation of Liverpool they look in the dustbin for something to eat, they find a dead rat and they think it’s a treat.

Was there last night by chance as we were visiting Liverpool over the weekend. Spoke to a steward who said he'd come across a few R's fans who wanted to be there. It was a test event for 10k people at an U18 game by ballot. A local journo told me the next event would be a 25k attendance. However, t's a heck of a walk from the centre and there was a bloody cold wind off the Mersey but it's situated amongst some beautiful old warehouses and the Titanic hotel and it was nice to see a brick facade has been created. There's a small pub directly opposite the new stadium called the Bramley Moore Hotel but wonder what it's lifespan will be.

The pub, the Bramley - Moore, looks proper run down from the outside, but it's ok once within the doors - needs new bogs though.
