managing a football club is not a popularity contest; otherwise Neil would probably never have got a job. but to have managed so many tinpot clubs and achieved promotions or staved off relegations (in our case, both, in consecutive seasons) over the course of decades in the game, means he will leave a legacy as a top class manager. abrasive, dodgy, rude, self centred........ applies to many of the most successful managers. i have nothing but fond memories of Warnock's time in charge of us; that period gives me loads of stand out memories that i'll cherish for ever. anyone who could harness the mental that was Taraabt and convince a team including Sean Derry and Clint Hill to support that lunatic, rather than throttle him after training has something special about him. Let's never underestimate what he achieved for us. Then thrown under the bus by the F1 crowd when he needed some support to strengthen the squad. | |
