FourFourTwo have again asked us for our submission on the best 10 oppo players in the league, and our POTY candidate.

Suggestions welcome...

Ben Doak was special. Does he count?
Couple of the keepers have had worldies against us too.

Watford's Georgian No 8 - don't ask me to spell his name! Best outfield player on show despite losing.
Bannan
Doak
Bogle at Lids

Our POTY - Nardi; honourable mentions Dunne, Cook, Varane, Morgan, Frey

Can we go out yet?

Bit previous, aren't they?

POTY - Dunne.

Taking a quick look through the fixture list, Doak and Bannan are the two obvious picks, would also say Maja for WBA (not sure he was a world beater but hard to argue with a hat trick), Gus Hamer for Sheff Utd, Chakvetadze for Watford, and every person to ever play in goal for Plymouth.

Harsh on Nardi but Dunne has to be POTY for me

Very previous nominating POTY with over a quarter of the season left.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Viktor Johansson, Stoke GK. He's saved around 15 shots more than expected - way ahead of anyone else.

Tandanga so good for Millwall.

Chakvetadze very good too.

POTY Nardi, closely followed by Dunne and Saito who if he maintains his current form or betters it, is likely to be my POTY before the end of the season. Saito looks like he really enjoys it too.

Doak was the obvious one for me. Absolutely tore us apart.
Would stick Bannon in there as well

Marcelino Nunez at Norwich looked a good player when we played them away. Scott Twine scored with his first kick against us and always seems to be a threat when fit.

That's nothing, I have to write the season preview for them in the first week of June.

Thought Kwadwo Baah looked a bit special for Watford but looking at his stats they don't really seem to stand out much.

Liam Cullen looked a cut above against us on boxing day - though we were so below the best that is perhaps not hard.

Despite them not beating us, Watford’s Georgian lad and Baah were stand outs for me (no way they both stick around in this league much longer).

Tom Fellows at WBA essentially won them the opening game on his own with his delivery from wide. Proper winger.

Unfortunately, Bannon (always and forever Bannon).

Ben Doak - ended Santos’ career in English football.

I thought Knight and Bird for BC are premier league players in waiting.

Finally, I’d agree with Johanssen for Stoke and add Conor Hazard to the mix for their shot stopping.

Not going to suggest top 4 players out of spite for the financial disparities / the fact Sunderland just weren’t that good when we played them (and neither were we)

I've basically approached this before as the top five being the pretty obvious top five from the top five, and then 6th-10th tried to give some love to the likes of Johansson at the less well off clubs.

Oh, and no loans usually, but I think I'll have to make an exception for Doak.

Another one for Chakvetadze. Could not understand why they didn't give him the ball all the time like when we had Adel.

Tom Cannon, first on loan for Stoke now Sheff Utd. Good striker.

Former FourFourTwo editor here explaining why it is so early to be nominating …

They have to cover all 92 clubs. That means getting the stuff in from 92 fans, some of whom will take ages to respond. They have to tabulate it, edit the copy where applicable, do the picture research, lay it all out, proof it and get it to the printers. And also format it for the web. At the same time as doing the normal magazines. Because it's a special it will likely go to print before the mag it goes out with – I don't know how much earlier, but it will be a few weeks, probably. The mag itself goes to print two or three weeks before it is in the shops. So in order to actually get the thing done, they need to leave a couple of months to actually pull it all together.

In music writing, we start getting asked for our albums of the year in September.
