Ha, reminds me of the time years ago when I was on the post. I was covering a new round while the regular fella was on holiday, when this big old rottweiler came running up to me, trying to shove his nose in my pocket.
Turned out the regular postie always carried treats in his pocket for the dogs on his round, so for the next couple of weeks I made sure I had a plentiful supply of dog biscuits in my pocket.
Second the poster further up regarding some sort of collection/go fund me for guide dogs. Something I'd be more then happy to contribute to
Picking up on what Hayesender has said about the go Fundme - You can sponsor a guide dog puppy. If we could decide on a decent name and all contribute, it could be the LFW puppy
Used to roll down my socks and played on the wing for my primary school football team.
Used to post on QPRNet.com as 'Dave Thomas' Socks' - hello to anyone who frequented that board.
There's still something inside of me that despairs when wide men don't blast past the full back, rather than cut inside.
Great player, lovely bloke and most certainly Forever R's!
"Used to post on QPRNet.com as 'Dave Thomas' Socks' - hello to anyone who frequented that board".
I was often on there, posting nonsense using the moniker Midlands Hoop.
I messed up my registration for LFW and had to change my ID to the one I have now. Hello š
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Me too.

Personally I think it would be a great idea to sponsor a guide dog puppy. They would welcome LFW supporters with open arms. You even get to pick the name

Class, Iāll drop you a message at some point for some advice.
There's a Guide Dog centre in our neighbourhood and I see the handlers out training them every day. They're amazing dogs, and amazing people. I have no idea how they do it. They are patient and loyal and help their buddies across the road and around obstacles and they never get distracted while all the other dogs are gallivanting and careering around the park, having the time of their lives.
It's incredible training, and it takes incredible dogs for it to work.

Absolutely no reason LfW users couldnāt pay for a new guide dog for DT and rehome the current one when it retires.
Anyone got a contact for DT? Imagine this is a sensitive subject so would need to be broached by someone who knows him.
Happy to do the setting up if / when the time comes.
I spoke to Polly (Dave's daughter) regarding the future for Dave. She explained that Hannah is at the end of her working life of ten years ( due to COVID this period was extended).
Dave will (fingers crossed) be staying with Dave and his wife Brenda for the rest of her life.
Dave is on the waiting list for a new dog, I said to Polly ,if there is anything we can do as a club or fanbase to help please let us know.
She is going to keep in touch and give updates on how things are going.
Dave is a true inspiration and a lovely man, Hannah absolutely worships him, it's a joy to be around then and see how she operates.
It was fascinating to be in the tunnel at half time and see her leap into 'work mode' at the moment that Dave put her harness on.
Unfortunately, you may have noticed that Dave's hearing is getting worse and he wears hearing aids in each ear, he has so much resilience though and the fact that he is still determined to visit Loftus Road on the train with Hannah, all the way from the North East shows what a strong character he is.
Just reading this article on Dave Thomas. Have a look at the para titled Football in his Genes - an incredible football story about his Grandfather.
Yes, Ticer Thomas part of the West Auckland team that won the first 'World Cup' before the first World War.
A TV film in the early 80s was made about it starring Dennis Waterman & Tim Healy. Dave's grandad was played in it by David 'Dai' Bradley (Billy Casper from 'Kes').
Iāve sponsored Guide Dogs for a number of years whilst trying to to be in a place where I can get a lab of my own. You canāt choose the name but do get lovely updates every few months or so on how they are doing and what stage they are at in their training
This is the puppy Iām helping sponsor at the moment (canāt seem to do anything about the audio description on the video)
Very worthwhile and would be happy to contribute to a LFW sponsor if it happens

A true Rangers legend.
Lovely.
Thanks for the update.

Thats very odd... When my dad passed away, we sponsored a guide dog (because of my sister) and was allowed to name him. His name is Maynard (after the wine gum my Dad loved) - Would be a shame if they have changed the process now. My Mum and her went to visit when he was training too
Edit: In fact, looking at their FAQ's you can name the puppy:
Can I name a guide dog puppy?
Yes! If you make a donation or raise (with friends, family or colleagues) Ā£2,500 or more you can give a guide dog puppy the special gift of a name. Please call 0345 1430 192 for further information or visit our Name a Puppy page.
