Rangers in a nutshell and we are still very much a work in progress , I suppose that's what happens when you can't afford to buy all the players you want and need at once. But I'm pretty happy with our progress at the moment.

Agree. We don't have the financial resources to compete with the top ten at the moment. We sadly wasted a lot of money on Madsen and maybe Celar, so that hasn't helped. We are a work in progress and looking up instead of down like we usually are. Having said that...I'll be glad to get to that 50 point mark quicker than usual😉

We were literally seconds from a creditable draw so we have to brush ourselves down and really take the disappointment out on Derby Friday night.

Never knowingly right.

Teams are always going to be inconsistent. Look up and down the tables, even the big boys are inconsistent. It's been the same every year and it will be for our remaining days.

It is frustrating being inconsistent as having put ourselves in a good position to challenge for the play offs we have now lost three out of the last four losing to play off rivals Wednesday, Millwall and Coventry in that run.

Real worry if Frey gets injured before Kolli and Celar are back.

We’re consistent for a mid table side, we win games against teams below us, we don’t beat many above us.

Since we began to pick up speed this season, I've been struck by just how many games can go either way. We've edged some we could have lost and tonight is an example of the cards falling the other way.

Can't remember a season where there is so little between so many teams.

I enjoyed the game and although disappointing to lose at the death, we were competitive against a team on the up and we were the away team, but we had our own chances too.

Would have been delighted if we had held on, we could even have nicked it, Freys miss was poor, but also Nardi kept us in it at times and then the final play but was a foul also.

We are a mid table team, and after 1 win from the first 16 games, can't really complain.

Excellent post - I totally agree. Coventry are a decent side in decent form and we went there and looked like a pretty solid mid-table team. Literally just over two months ago we would have grabbed at that very happily.

Game could clearly have gone either way, what Frey was doing on his chance I am not so sure, wasn't the time for him of all people to finesse it into the net. Just belt it home, mate, it is what you are about. Would be lovely to see more of the bull approach he showed at Luton a bit more often.

Yes, spot on there.
It really is a fine line this season as shown by the last two games.

What has been particularly consistent is the three behind the striker not only don’t score goals but rarely ever look like scoring a goal.

In modern football, with only a lone striker, it’s imperative you get a greater goal contribution from that area of the field.

The remarkable thing is they’re all good players and have played well for us. The problem is the two wide players are a little too one dimensional. With the old two up, having one dimensional wingers was fine, but in the modern game you’ve got to be able play through the middle rather than constantly going wide. We are trying to play 1970’s football on the wing and 21st Century football up front and it clearly doesn’t wash against good opposition.

Marti has done an excellent job getting what is probably the personal best out of those players, but if you can’t score goals you cant score goals.

I actually think Celar scores that Frey chance and will come good, his finishes against Cardiff showed that - pure confidence and instinct player. Michy did the same away at Plymouth too. Although I'm a big fan of Frey, yesterday wasn't his game against the high line. Kolli would have been ideal, but injured.
Madsen can be lost back to an obscure European league.

A point would have been a fantastic result and we definitely deserved a point on the balance of our play all evening.

That late goal gave me the bang needle - I had to go into the garden with the dog afterwards to calm down. Haven't slept well either.

This bloody football club............

Mid table mediocrity is a definite improvement on the last two seasons battling relegation! Assuming that's where we end up, I can definitely live with that.

Thought we had a good go last night but ultimately Nardi was the much busier of the two keepers and the Frey chance was the only clear cut one we had. 94th minute loss is always a sickener but in the end it is only one point dropped.

Pre-season I wanted to be in the playoff hunt but realistically needing a great run to get there which is where we are so all good. An unconventional route to get to where we are now but the points tally is fine. Unspectacular but fine.

Need two points per game from here to sneak in and even that would be a maybe. Not realistically happening but the dream is alive and very alive if we can win these next two and go into the March death run with some confidence.

When you add Kolli, Demebele, Lloyd, Madsen, and Anderson who also played there it looks a bit better but not much granted.

Quite a few assists amongst those players though, especially Chair.

All those players available and not in the clink and I think we'll be looking at a different scoring rate.
