AC/DC European tour 10:32 - Feb 7 with 1410 viewsloftboy

Impulsive to say the least.
Said to the Mrs does she want to go, ended up buying flights £364 return to Prague
Hotel £300 ( for a decent one for 3 nights)
Had to queue up on ticket master Czech site this morning, 4000 in the queue, all in Czech no English translation, turned out I’ve bought two front row seats at £340 each!! How was I to know what 20000 was in Pounds, anyhow one happy Mrs and one huge Barclaycard bill.

I hear Sabbath are doing another Final gig, this time at Villa Park.
I thought Ozzy was barely able to walk these days. Iomi still looks the same.

£300 for the hotel??

Just booked Chicago for Mrs Superhoop to do the Chicago marathon in October and that was $300 PER night

I hope yours turns out to be a decent hotel for that price

Both of you wear good earplugs. Near the front it will be too loud for you to actually hear the chord changes without them. Seriously.

I just booked 2 tickets to see the excellent Simple Minds,Modern English and Soft Cell for mid june and could not be happier except for 1 small issue haha.
Have seen Simple Minds twice back in 87 or 88 and much later maybe 2016 but never got to see Modern English or Soft Cell but obviously love their few hits.
Of course me being an idiot and rushing for the presale I picked the right city just wrong venue thinking it was a different amphithether instead of a poor location by the lakefront .
Watched Dermot Kennedy there 2 years ago in June abd froze my nut sack off being in shorts and tee shirt

Great post. Alternatively, damp tissue paper works well, I've used that method to protect my ears successfully at quite a few gigs, including an indoor Iron Maiden one.

On the subject of hearing, years ago, my mate told me that his friend was worried that he had permanently damaged his. His teenage son, I learned, had wanted to go to see his favourite band, but his dad wasn't having that because he was too young.

So, they went together.

Now he's got hearing problems, my mate explained.

Me: "Which band was it?"

My mate: Some lot called Slipknot.

Me: "Oh right" .

The moral of the story: Always do your research first.

By the way, the recent film about a heavy metal drummer who loses his hearing, "The sound of metal," is amazing. You can access it via the iPlayer.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Seen Simple minds on many occasions but the last time was in the early 2000s at the Astoria in London. Great reviews for the last tour.
Always been superb live.

I don’t think my hearing’s ever been quite the same since I went to see Taste with Rory Gallagher a few times at the Marquee fifty odd years ago.

First band I ever saw, supporting Magazine in 1979. I thought they were crap on the night, but I was probably biased against them because they called a song "Ch*ls** Girl".

I was touch and go for the 2006 CM, and by the time I decided to go, there was only one decent hotel near the start/finish line. However, I had to book the 'romantic weekend' deal.

Consequently, every night I got back to my love nest, a bottle of champagne, rose petals, and origami kissing swans greeted my return. Finished the race and had five bottles of shampoo to knock back! Thankfully, got friends in to help.

Cost me a foookin' packet!!!

I have earplugs on me for gigs and wouldn't be without them now.

Occasionally, I put them in at football. I have tinnitus too which is playing at about 10400Hz for me all the time. When the football's been especially loud - e.g. when Colback scored on Tues - it affects my ears and makes the tinnitus louder for a good few hours afterwards.

If you want to hear what it's like, check the page here and move the slider up to 10400:

Hotel prices in the US have risen across the board due to a lack of availability. Many municipalities and local authorities have blocked booked rooms for the long term accommodation of 'undocumented immigrants'.
I've been surprised a number of times in the last couple of years.

Hope they put on a good show for you. Bit of furore here last week as it turns out developers have knocked down the house in Ashfield where Angus and Malcolm grew up. They wanted it listed but now it's gone.

Very wise and interesting stuff. That tinnitus matching software is impressive, thanks for sharing 👍

I suffer from it too, I think it all started when, as a student, I was stuck next to the monitor in a crowded pub, while a gig was going on.

You’ll have a great night - just checked and it was Dec 2015 last gig here - still smiling remembering it & worried then if Brian Johnson was going to stand up ok after crouching down to crank more volume out 😁

Ours is the Hyatt Hotel, right near the start which I guess may be the extra premium

But then (and this was not on the BA website) - They charge a $25 dollar a day which they class as a 'guest experience' fee - You can get the $25 dollars off your restaurant bill in the evening if you eat on one of their 6 restaurants

I just hope that its a week to remember lol
