Was that a cheeky little toe punt for the goal ? Not easy to see from some angles.

What was clear was the tracking of Illy, ensuring he was there if required and the knack of being in the right place at the right time seems to be quite natural to Rayan.

Refreshing, especially when compared with Master Dykes and his ability to magnetically repel himself from where the ball might end up eventually.

I'm fairly sure it was the outside of his right foot & curled away from the 'keeper.

Not that i would care if it had been a toe poke!

Looked a great finish, much harder than the chances we didn't put away before and after!

Also wasn’t sure if it deflected slightly, hence the curve - I’m equally happy that it went it regardless.

Hopefully there’s a couple of angles when the extended (hair) highlights package gets released.

I imagine the players’ coach is a great place to be, especially for several of the younger players this evening.

Nothing wrong with a toe punt if it gets the job done, that was a great finish

I was a bit cynical about Kolli’s supposed greatness last season but happy to eat my words, he’s put away some fine goals already and looks like a proper finisher. With the new contract it’s going to be great watching him progress. Brilliant ball to Saito near the end as well, plus him and Chair are clearly on the old wavelength that Chair and Eze used to have

I was thinking more like Willock and Chair but Eze and Chair was better.

Certainly more durable.

I enjoyed seeing Frey out of the dugout celebrating Kolli's goal, given that he'd been subbed off following two big chances himself.

I thought the goal had a touch of the Karl-Heinz Rummenigges about it.

Whatever the technique, there was only one place he could have put it out of Grimshaw's reach while still on target, and he found it with no time to think or space to see.

Putting the goal aside, I thought the most pleasing thing was when he switched to the left when Chair went off. He was tracking back, doubling up with Paal, challenging.
Compare that to WBA on the first day of the season, a massive difference.
I was more impressed with that than the goal (which was a good finish), as his all round game is better than 5/6 months ago.

Well i had my avatar since he scored two unbelievable goals tor the development squad before he had played for the first team.

Some were saying they thought he had attitude problems and didn't want to be here.

Not sure why people were saying such things, but "SIDESHOW BOB" Rayan, he has shown his true qualities.

Apparently, we wanted to keep Sinclair Armstrong, but he wanted to leave, and it's given both Lloyd and Kolli opportunities, they may not otherwise have got.

Sometimes fate lends a hand and we can all be grateful about that.

Walking in a "Mackie Wonderland"
Poll: Where will we finish next season ???

Probably some relief there!

We have a few different keys to open different locks which is great!

Picking up from something in the OP, one of the steps forward this season is that both Frey and Kolli get themselves in positions to score, even if they're finishing isn't always perfect - you can see both those things with Frey yesterday.

When we have a long-distance shot or maybe a poor cross, you do tend to see those two getting into decent scoring positions even though the ball doesn't get near them.

That's much less obvious to me with Celar, he doesn't seem to read his teammates well, but in his case I think his actual finishing might be better.

Yes. I thought Frey didn't do too much wrong with those chances and they were fantastic saves but like they say, you need to be in the right position to miss chances.

Whilst it’s clearly helped by the developing patterns of play and some good coaching, part of it must be the natural response to follow up, get to one of the posts, get between the CBs, always be on the front foot etc.

Small improvements in the conversion rate and you potentially start scoring 2-3 goals a game and that’s a massive step forwards for us.

Refreshing, considering where we were not long ago - because I still haven’t forgotten the Swansea Xmas capitulation. FFS, even Cardiff managed to beat them by the same score….no doubt ‘welshing’ on a bet :-)

Comparing the ‘hygiene’ to what we expect at work, you can forgive people for not being the best at their job sometimes but you still expect them to:

Be punctual
Be polite
Listen
Take notes
Dress accordingly
Follow up
Etc

It’s not asking much but there are a lot of people who don’t do the basics that require very little skill, expertise or knowledge.

I guess this is what we sometimes think of as making an effort to at least run around, stick a foot in and don’t give the ball away a which was the subject matter discussed ad infinitum for Mr Daniiiiiiish.
