Tamworth v Spurs 14:57 - Jan 12 with 722 viewsaston_hoop

Yeah Spurs are going to win in ET now, but what an effort from Tamworth. Mostly gutted for them though that with the new rules, they'll miss out on a replay at Spurs. Just so Spurs can play a pre-season friendly in fcking Bangkok or somewhere. Rotten.

Poll: Moses Odubajo - Stick or Twist?

The FA are an utter disgrace and not fit for purpose.

Loved it. I’m pretty sure the Prem teams would do away with the domestic cups altogether if they could.

Bromley giving Newcastle an early scare too.

Donkeys years ago, I worked for a corporation based in the Midlands, in their Solihull office. We used to play lots of 11 a side football friendlies, and one day, our office, the company HQ, challenged our Tamworth office to a game.

They came over but were one short; being at home and a big office, we had plenty of players, so one of them - me - was loaned to the Tamworth office team.

Playing with them was quite an eye opener. Apparently, some of their players were in the squad of Tamworth the non-league team. We absolutely battered the Solihull office, with the main tactic being to get the ball to our pacy, skilful left winger, who supplied a conveyor belt of Lee Cook style quality crosses, four or five of which were headed home powerfully by our towering, Charlie Austin like centre forward.

I think we won 9-1. Cards on the table, I really didn't contribute a fat lot

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Re the OP, a pre-season friendly in Bangkok doesn't really interfere with the in-season calendar (though it does show how clubs bleating about player fatigue/too many games are hypocrites).

And as for your "FA utter disgrace" comment, this one cannot be pinned on them, if only because they get a cut of gate receipts, meaning the more games, the greater their revenue.

No, this one is fairly and squarely on UEFA, who have extended the CL/EL/ECL so much more this season (extra teams/ties, basically), that the Group stages now extend into the New Year. (Previously all games after New Year were knockout games.)

Anyhow, with so many English PL teams playing in Europe after Xmas, there simply aren't enough midweeks to guarantee fitting in FA Cup replays as well as the extra European midweek ties.

Agree that UEFA are an utter disgrace over this, though.
