Sometimes you can do too much/over-achieve at a club, which gives rise to supporters deluding themselves into believing that their club, little Luton Town, is bigger than what it actually is.

Reading the Luton pre-match review - Clive's oppo profile, it appears that they have lost some real quality players from last season: Barkley and Lakongo, in particular, as well as Ogbene and Osho amongst others. They haven't been adequately replaced to at least championship equivalents, yet they spent £10 million on McGuinnes and are reportedly going to initially pay £3 million for Isaiah Jones!!

We were better than them on Monday, but they aren't going down and I believe that he should have been kept on until the season's end at least. Due to what he achieved with unfancied Luton Town, they have virtually paid for their new ground as a result of the premier league £150 million windfall. They could have taken a leaf out of our book re: the MC and kept their nerve by keeping him in post. It will turn around for them like it has for us.

Is it back to Jones again.

I'm guessing they will go for Schumacher?

Never knowingly right.
Poll: How long before new signings become quivering wrecks of the players they were?

Let's start the campaign, Beale to Luton.

He may talk a little posh for them, though.

Seemed to take ages between the initial reports and the official announcement. I wonder if there was a protracted negotiation to reach mutual consent and avoid a big payoff, and part of the deal was the biggest praise of a sacked manager I have ever seen in a club statement.

Dislike the club but find this decision crazy as some have posted they didn’t give him much support for new players last season and accepted relegation for the price of a new stadium. The fact that they have had a serious amount of injuries this season would have thought they would have given him a bit longer to turn things round.

It will be pretty clear what he is entitled to receive. He did a good job in getting them promoted, he then renegotiated his contract from a position of relative strength - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c4nn33x303yo , which usually has implications as to whether he has an obligation to mitigate his loss. There may or may not be a liquidated damages clause in the new contract - if not, it is the unexpired value of the duration of the contract less any deduction for receiving it in a lump sum. He will likely have instructed the League Managers Association to act and one of their aims is to get a good press release. I suspect he will have done okay - not Conte or Potter okay, but okay nonetheless.

Cheers for that informative summary, Nico, of some of the possible legal machinations that may have gone on behind the scenes in this case and in other similar instances.
