I like Frey up front, his physicality the sort of style of striker that suits what we need at this level, leading the line, roughing up defenders and getting vital goals. Reminds me of Hugill same sort of player, who I really thought did a great job while on loan to us. We sort of know Frey can't last a full 90 mins but options of Kolli and Lloyd to do last third of the game is a real bonus as well as they are growing in confidence.

Best we got and I like him......but we need even better.

In the Championship?? Really? Not sure we do, and pretty sure we won’t be able to afford better.

We certainly need another forward. Ideally you’d have two target men and two quicker finishers, and rotate/play as necessary based on oppo, availability, form, game situation, etc.

Not sure there are many better goal scoring target men in the Champ than Frey. Availability is the key. If he stays fit for most of these last 20 games - big IF - and gets to, say 32 appearances for the season, and doubles his current tally to 12, that’s a pretty good return. Even more so when you factor in all the other benefits he brings for the team that a poacher type player doesn’t.

We don’t have to defend deep as much and be on the back foot when Frey plays because the ball does not come back quickly. And, if it does, it is rushed. So he’s playing a part in helping us concede fewer. His first touch is good and his positional play is excellent. Best centre forward we have had since Austin in his prime, IMO. Obviously not his level, but best since.

I'm not sure we need "better" than Frey, but we could do with Frey being available to start, if not do the full 90 minutes, all through the season, and at 30 it's not ideal to have to count on that.

If - and yes, I accept anything can still happen - we are heading for the reasonably calm waters of mid-table this season I would question the need for a striker. I know its almost a requirement for QPR fans to say "we need a striker", but as this would most likely entail a loan I would far prefer to develop two exciting young strikers of our own in Kolli and Lloyd and rotate them with Frey (this assuming we can tie Kolli down to a new contract). And at some point presumably Celar will come back. Recognise there is risk here but our signings are questionable enough in the close season (Madsen, Celar); lets, unless we are really desperate, keep our limited spending powder dry till the summer. Our scoring has actually been OK of late and whilst I have not seen and xg stats lately my hunch is we are close to scoring a few more than we are currently achieving.

Lack of lace and fitness concerns for me over Frey. Kev Gallen summed it up perfectly when he described Frey as a third choice striker who you chuck on when needing a goal, not a starter.

Never really understood this one.

If you think a guy is your best chance of getting a goal, why wouldn't you start him? Better to score at 0-0 than 0-2.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?
