It seems his mins playing for QPR as a trend are going down per game.
That as a trend.

Lets start with the Stoke game in November when our good run of form began (some may say it was later) to see how the mins on the pitch have gone.

D - Stoke = 61
W - Cardiff = 81
D - Watford = 64
W - Norwich = 67
W - Oxford = 67
D - Bristol = 16
W - Preston = Benched
L - Swansea = 45
D - Norwich = 32
W - Watford = 13
W - Luton = Benched.

Fear my Jack Supple analytical powers!

It looks like he's a sub being considered less and less, with Varane, Colback, Field and Morgan ahead of him. He seems to be only just ahead of EDB at the moment. If he goes higher up the formation, he has to compete with Saito, Chair, Smyth, Frey, Kolli, Llyod and even Andersen.

So, I expect him to start against Leicester so as the others get a rest, probably in for Morgan.

But unless he ups his game a lot, I cannot see a way back for him at the moment.

I don't recall Wilkins doing much running and tackling and he could pick a pass. Ray had runners around him, though.

Agree BUT the game has changed. Much faster and virtually everybody has to run.

Plus don't see Madsen doing any of the good things Wilkins did. Where are the side-splitting passes.

As for the strategy / tactics not being right for him, welcome to the Championship.

My mate ( a Watford fan) thought he was best passer on the park when we played at theirs. Makes me think there is a place for someone who makes the ball do the work.

Can't say he's made much of an impact, but I look at Frey and Smyth who are two players I expected to be bombed out last season for reasons to give him more time.

I have my reservations about Madsen, but we persevered with Lyndon Dykes for over 4 years, so let's see. However, he must be willing to want to improve in the areas where he currently falls short in order to become a credible championship player.

I suspect that we will make a number of changes for Saturday's FA Cup game, which I agree with, and he will in all likelihood start. It's then down to him to try and leave a better impression by figuring more prominently in the game.

Plus, when we lost the ball Wilkins got behind it and into position.

Madsen, earlier on in the season at least, didn't. Neither did Andersen. And we were easy to break on.

He definitely needs more time to bed in and hopefully now that team is playing better as a whole it will give him the space he needs to settle more and adapt. Him and Celar have rightly been in the spotlight as reportedly two of the most expensive signings we made in the summer, but that pressure doesn't seem to have suited either of them. My big worry with Madsen and Celar to an extent, is they look okay when they have the ball, but their off the ball stuff (pressing, tackling, general running/work rate etc) has ranged from average to terrible so far and for a team that seems to do better when it has less possession that's not a good sign. You have to earn your mins, so he's going to have to start making an impact from the bench if he wants to get back in the side.

Confession time.
I was trying to stir the pot.

But the team is playing better in significant part precisely because they are NOT playing.

We are playing better because we are pressing, playing at tempo and tackling.

There is literally no evidence to point to that either Madsen or Andersen will do that - Andersen, tbf to him, probably more because his legs seem to have gone rather than bad attitude.

We are not playing so well that we can afford to carry two passengers.

Not sure what we'd do without Madsen.

With Celar injured and Paal seemingly off the shit list, he's fulfilling the crucial prime scapegoat role and I can't see any obvious replacement right now.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

I like him and he definitely increased his work rate against Norwich. Plus he housesat for Jimmy Dunne.

Norwich he was defo running more and also more aggressive in the tackle. Much improved, but he has been so far off the pace, that this improvement for the actual match was not even that significant.

It was like a 6 out of 10. What needs to do, is this all the time a little bit more. Which is what Morgan has been doing and then with Madsens skills (and he has them), he will be a great player for us.

He has the skill, massive amounts, now its time to run run run. Lets hope Marti coaches this into him, but I do worry, that after some time, Marti is still reluctant to put him on the pitch and would rather risk an early Colback injury return than pushing Madsen on.

Madsen could be heading into the EDB, Santos forgotten realms, where Richards is King of all.
That says a lot.

I remember Madsen playing a lot of great passes early season, feeding Smith in particular often with penetrating flicks into space out right. But he got sh*t for not tackling. More recently when he's come on as sub he seems much more involved in the press, has made successful tackles but his passing game hasn't been what it was. I want to see him making those passes again, think we need that more than the tacking, we have plenty others that can do that, but ideally of course he needs to do both.

Pretty sure there was one of those Faurlin-esque first time / round the corner passes to Smyth vs Watford during his cameo...but I may be both imagining things; and clutching at straws...

Wilkins was a different deal altogether.

Obviously he wasn't haring round the pitch putting in tackles, but the point was that any time we got the ball there he was - available, a simple touch away from whoever had won the ball, knowing exactly where he was going to play the ball, and it was always going to feet.

The guy just read the game so well and controlled it when he had the ball.

I'd love it for Madsen to be doing that, I really would, but so far he just hasn't.

I remember when Chris Willock joined us a lot of people thought he was lightweight but they worked on his upper body and core strength and he became much more robust. Just wondering whether he needs a bit of additional strength training?

It still seems a bit early to write him off but I admit also I kept the faith too long with Dozzell after you lot kept telling me.

Skilfull player who is struggling to get to grips with the intensity of the British game/Championship.

He is a part of the squad and we need to keep working with him and get him as ready as we can, for when he is needed.

He will only improve and adapt with experience.

Therefore he needs to start on Saturday. Centre of attacking midfield, Chair on the left, Saito on the right with two defensive shields behind.

Very true. There is a player there.
