Didn’t see that one coming.
Won’t be as easy packing the team with Liverpudlians when based at the opposite end of the country.

First signing a beer fridge for the dressing room.

Then a bookie.

Poll: What is it to be then?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Yes, apart from his summariser stints on Radio Bolton.

Not so much "out of work" as "doesn't need to work" perhaps?

Given Jimmy Bell was 'mutually released' as manager at Clitheroe in December, I suspect he will also end up in kent. The American owners will need translators

I wonder if Gillingham sought references from Andy Holt?

Or Chris Dunphy?

Doesn’t he still work for the club coaching one of the youth teams? I’m sure he is the coach of his sons age group, or at least he was about a year ago.

Maybe, but I find it hard to believe he's made enough money (from being fired) to not need to work

He's 55 now, after a career spanning nearly four decades during which he's been earning above-average wages for most of that time. There may also be legacy (family) income

There's a view that X-amount of money is required to live a reasonable lifestyle, but if he's mortgage-free and has looked after his money there's no reason to suspect he'll be anything other than 'comfortable' by now

If he really needed to work, i've no doubt he'd be able to find it in some capacity (other than occasional radio work) even if perhaps in a lesser role than he's been used to. It therefore depends on what you mean by "need to work"
