He's 55 now, after a career spanning nearly four decades during which he's been earning above-average wages for most of that time. There may also be legacy (family) income There's a view that X-amount of money is required to live a reasonable lifestyle, but if he's mortgage-free and has looked after his money there's no reason to suspect he'll be anything other than 'comfortable' by now If he really needed to work, i've no doubt he'd be able to find it in some capacity (other than occasional radio work) even if perhaps in a lesser role than he's been used to.
