Happy New Year My R's - Preview 22:59 - Dec 31 with 2724 viewsNorthernr

Happy New Year My R's - Preview 31st Dec 2024 22:46
QPR end a dramatic, chaotic, emotional 2024 exhausted; they start 2025 at home to a Watford side they really should have beaten when these two met just a couple of weeks back. 8

I just squeezed this Happy New Year to all European Rs before midnight and the champagne is popped but most are probably feeling pretty merry by now anyway.
Another excellent preview Clive thanks as always hope we can win at the crack of dawn tomorrow (over here ) and pick up 4 points over Christmas it would really help the mood

Well done , Clive. Happy New Year.

Nice write up Clive.

Sums up the madness of supporting this club. All of us have asked the question, as to what exactly are we doing with our lives, spending our leisure time watching this club.

Happy new year to you.

Happy New Year. I've still not been able to look the bloke who sits in front of me in the eye after basically molesting him celebrating the Dunne goal.

My favourite thing about it, after watching it back several thousand times, is the view from the away end, and Sam Field starting to celebrate pretty much the instant it leaves Jimmy's boot, he had far more faith than anyone else about where it was ending up.

Still a few hours to go to New Year here in LA. And I have to get up at 4:30 am to watch Watford game on a stream. (I know, First World problem compared to train/tube travel around blighted UK). But...We Are QPR. Wherever we may be. However the chips may fall (usually badly). Magnificent piece, Clive. Happy New Year To All.

Brilliant!!!!!
Supporting without your support would potentially be unbearable.
Armstrong's goal at Leicester was one of the highlights of my year - a , as you say, running down the gangway moment.
Unfortunately wasn't a Birmingham but Jimmy's Preston winner must be a close second.
My Rs low point of year was part of the process of beginning to accept relegation was scanning the Third Division table , sorry league 1, and thinking fk me Shrewsbury Town no fkkin way!
Big Thanks. Big Love to you all. HNY.

Wonderfully written Clive.
Thank you for all the words that describe the wonder and the pain of following our bonkers club and team, in the last year and every year .

Watching that clip of the Jimmy Dunne goal against Birmingham genuinely bought tears of elation back to my eyes .
For multiple reasons I can’t make many away games but to all of you who traipse up and down the country giving the guys incredible support , you are this clubs life’s blood. At times the players don’t deserve you and us who only make it to LR but there is nothing like supporting and loving this football club.
Happy new year to everyone on here and let’s hope we can start 2025 with a victory .
Come on U R’s!!!!!!

Love it Clive. Jimmy’s goal was the genuine OMG moment with a delayed pause of holding your head in disbelief before going mental. Seriously great article it’s not the facts it’s the raw emotion behind what you have written. Sums us all up beautifully. I am proud to be a Superhoops fan as was my dad and granddad, I know it’s the hope that kills you but maybe next season might be a good one. Suspect we might not win today though….. Andy

I've had sooo many of those what am I doing with my (and my family's) lives moments following Rangers.

This preview has reminded me - well, added the detail. Sitting next to my long suffering but loves it really other half and one of our oldest friends and watching with incredulity as Paul Smyth raised his right peg on the Bristol half way line had done it; as had Jimmy's diving header a few days later and celebrating that one with two of my other oldest friends and our long suffering but love it really offspring.

I remember many years ago piling out of an unexpected home win v Liverpool with the final 'one of my oldest friends' who make up our gang of five who've been going together for 40+ years (we're now treble that number with the assorted long suffering but love it really partners & offspring), and he said to me as we watched the despondent scousers traipsing away from the School End, 'they'll never have a feeling like this.' And for all their silverware, all their 'magical Europeann nights' - they won't.

We've all taken different routes to QPR - some of us found it by default, others had it thrust upon us - but your wonderful prose does so much to distil our collective experience. Thank you again.

Happy new year Rs everywhere.

A perfect summary of what it is to follow this team.

So much more I could say but I’ve got a game to get to.

Happy new year everyone. Hope your year is as high as qpr’s highs and not quite so low as their lows.

Fantastic piece Clive.

If you were on trial for the insanity of your devotion to QPR this ‘closing argument’ would see you acquitted.

Happy New Year and thanks for all your hard work on this site which is very much appreciated.

Hope to catch up soon in the C&S, as I will be restricted to watching on TV today - can’t face another soaking in the East Paddock with a bad cold. A home win today would be the best tonic!

Thanks, Clive. Another great preview so soon after another great match report. The best ground in football, the best kit, the best fans website with the best journalist. Being a QPR fan is great.

It’s strange as I am reading today’s preview after our fantastic 3 v 1 win today against Watford.

A very emotional read Clive and one that brought a lump to my throat.

You captured the trials and tribulations perfect.

Nice nod to the dads and daughters too. We were there today with our sixteen year old daughters (son in bed with a hangover) and it was magical absolutely magical. Making memories that will last a lifetime.

Thanks again Clive - Your articles are a big part of supporting this wonderful football club.

Thanks for another year Clive & even from other side of the world loved reading that & the bond of following our bloody team. 240 connected to NZ R’s down here now & shocked to have some poor youngsters join our regular pub reflections on latest shitshow.
Can we hope for less stress in 2025…

Thanks Clive, a superb piece.

I didn't have time to read the preview before departing from home this morning, but it was well worth catching up with!

In fact, I can't get enough about Rangers after today's performance!

I’m like a broken record - the fan base and club are so lucky to have someone like you Clive

Loved the game today - loads to like

Weirdly I’m bringing my daughter down to LR for the Luton game - I’m considering jacking in the rugby coaching and if I do that - I may well have to experience the stoke premier inn ..

Hope to catch you soon mate
