Here goes, second crack. Hopefully our much improved home form continues and we can make it four on the spin.

I'll go for a tight 2-1 win with Kolli who at home is becoming a bit of a talisman notching one and Chair finally getting off the mark.

The more difficult challenge for him now is to get us playing consistently - we tend to follow one good half/game with an excruciatingly bad one. This is a good one.

Jimmy down with a right shoulder, he’ll probably tough it out, hopefully not bad

Keeping that at 2-0 feels immense

Hope Dunne truly is ok but he seems to be gutting it out if he’s not.

Really good opening 45 there, Watford couldn't live with our physicality at all and Michy has been eating souls at will. Only concern is Jimmy feeling pain in his shoulder again, hopefully if he comes back out for the second half he's not worsening an injury and making it worse

Shit but local

Not quite sure how we have done this, as I honestly thought Watford were playing better than us .... but won't be worrying too much about that... The free kick for Freys goal looked like it was 6 of one and half dozen off the other... but we'll worked goal
Dunne and their Pollack have been at each other the whole game, so Jimmy scoring was a right in your face moment ... great cross by Chair, who again as had a quiet half.... hopefully it is more just being rusty.
Terrible conditions today, and seeing as we have had a world tour over Christmas, we have been really lively.
Think MC will need to make changes, Colbeck for a few minutes, JCS for some as well.
Just need to see this out now at fortress LF

Best 45 of the season so far. Frey has been a monster; ditto Dunne and Fox. Loving the Varane / Morgan / Field axis.

More of this please. Hook it to my veins.

He’ll grow another one at half time

Stop Feckin around at the back and we win this.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Great first half all important early goal, we do look a lot tougher with Frey up front. Jimmy Dunne immense again.

Hard to believe how stark our good play vs our bad, today vs how we were against swansealona. Good to have Beast Frey back, Morgan really fitting well as a no. 10, Chair getting his deadly touch back, Varane especially and Field winning the middfield, and Brazilian Jimmy stepping in well at CB while owning headers in the opposition’s box. Everyone doing well today

Good, fairly even, lung-busting Champ game with sometimes a bit of finess/quality lacking as usual at this level, but we're really nicely positioned at h/t, with the classic Chair (who's been quiet otherwise) and Dunne cross + header doing to Watford what it did to Prezzer on the other side/end. The difference has been in both boxes, with Nardi again so strong when needed, and Jimmy a colossus. Frey and Smyth pressing well, and Paal for me has hardly put a foot wrong too, despite the brickbats. That miss by Bayo near the end of the half may well be pivotal.

Let's hope we don't now go back into our shells, concede, and then go all ragged and panicky. We need more pride and more of the same, and it'll be as a good a start to the New Year as we could have hoped for.

Re the subs, I expect Marti to make at least three as he manages the minutes (Colback for Morgan, Saito for Chair, Kolli for Frey).

'Dark arts', 'getting stuck in', 'standing up and being counted'...smart, tough Championship-in-the-rain football from Rangers.

Two notable being nasty moments...Smyth chasing down and pushing keeper Bachmann in 11th minute..and then Frey taking yellow to disupt dangerous Watford attack.

Michi F at moment looking upgrade on Scotstralian Dykes...and he scores!

I think chair is still getting up to speed but flashes of the old player coming through. My main concern was that he seems to drift inside and leave Paal isolated 2-1 sometimes. Saito may off more protection down the left.

I think Frey has been good and having Kolli to come on if/when he tires is a bonus.

Perhaps biased but I think the free kick was probably just about right. As you say 6 of one half a dozen of the other when challenging for the ball, their player has his shirt the whole time. Then when the ball then passes behind, their player stops Frey illegally.
