Not sure why anyone would entrust your club with him - amazing player but abject failure of a manager.
I wonder whether they will re-appoint Schumacher? He's available and was the driving force behind their return to the Championship - not sure if he totally sullied his reputation there, but he knows the club, and essentially the parameters involved at their level.

I called it wrong, I thought he would do OK there. I don't subscribe to the Rooney hatred and actually thought he did OK at Derby and might do alright at a more stable club.

He didn’t do ok at Derby. The points deductions masks this.
Give them the points back and they’d have been 16th which is way under expectations especially with the players at his disposal. They didn’t win a single away game the second half of the season.
Was so happy we relegated them with a 90th minute 1-0 win. Was there with my son.
Second time we got a late winner against them that season plus the play off final of course.
Edit: I do respect that he has at least given management a go but everywhere he’s been, including the US where he also underperformed, he’s shown it’s just not for him. Needs to find another hobby to keep out of the house.
Edit edit: From the BBC Sport page “ The Home Park hierarchy were quick to say that he had been impressive when interviewing for the job…..” I mean, that’s just crass stupidity. People can either be naturally good at interviews or trained well how to perform in them. I’ve worked with people who I found out later “interviewed well” but were awful at the job. Depending on the questions asked and the answers given, we could be talking borderline lying, bull$hitting at best. Will always get found out in the end.

Rooney underperformed at Derby. Notwithstanding the points deduction their form was bottom half of the league with a squad that was expected to challenge for the play-offs.
However, I do agree that Rooney deserves some credit for having the courage to keep trying his hand at management when it would be far easier to coast along in punditry. Many of the top pundits either wouldn't dare or have tried once and failed miserably (e.g. Gary Neville, Shearer, Merson). |  | | |

Plymouth fan, I know was certain Plymouth were going to be OK.
If at any time in the future, our club appoint Rooney, then most would predict dire consequences so even our hierarchy would not stoop so low, I would hope.

Plymouth WAS a stable club, and punching above their weight, now he has landed them in a whole heap of trouble.
And the fanbase was very split on his appointment, the few I knew all hated the idea.
