Where are the "Nourry out" comments now ??? 21:54 - Dec 21 with 3421 viewsnumptydumpty

A decent run of form solves a great deal of ills.

I was as worried as most with our direction and it truly wasn't smelling of roses around here for long periods.

I can't say hardly anyone saw this coming but things are seriously looking much much better.

So as for signings

Nardi
Morrison
Varane
Morgan
Saito

All looking good

Signings injured but have had few signs of improvement

Dembele
Celar

Youth players progressing well

Kolli
Lloyd

Other signings - some hopes

Ashby
Madsen

Ones that a way to go

Santos
Bennie

Existing squad players performing / injured

Cook
Dunne
Smyth
Field
Chair

Frey
JCS
Colback

Others

Paal
EDB
Anderson

Seems a squad that does have more depth than previously if we look at recent form.

Was Nourry ster right all along???

And as soon as we have all been made aware of who is injured once when they are due back - has coincided with upturn in form.

Suddenly this forum has all gone quiet on the Nourry Out rhetoric !!!

Am not being a smart a*se. I was worried about the set up as much as anyone,..

Was the data right all along ??

The pitchforks and lit torches are put away until the new year...

Two difficult away matches where any points we gain will surely be a bonus...

Merry Christmas one and all... Including Mr Nourry

2024/2025.... Keep Calm, no matter the season, we'll follow our team.....

Marti should get the credit for finding solutions to the issues resulting from Nourry's decisions. Some of the players too. If we had a lesser manager we'd be in deeper shit.

"Nourry out" for me too.

For the first time since I can remember, we have a bench that no longer terrifies me.

Nourry’s job is not putting out an 11 man team, that’s the managers job, it’s about assembling a squad and he is a long way further doing that than the previous DOF managed in eight very long years.

Leave the bloke alone.

I dunno Steve, who's players are scoring the goals?

MC has found a way to win despite Nourry not because of him, Nourry is and always will be a huge issue in my opinion and should go, for all the reasons written before. Surely no one believes just 4 wins and 3 draws change that…but we can enjoy it the run.

We’ve also done that with 4 new players being key to that run. Nardi, Varane, Koki and Morrison. Didn’t he also sign Morgan? So 5?

If we extend contracts for Dunne and Kolli, I think people have to say he’s doing ok. We’ve got to be balanced.

Deffo some mistakes - unbalanced squad agreed. But not all bad. I'm impressed with the age of players coming in - having a couple of 18 year olds good enough to play in the first team plus a 21 year old CB, a good goalie, an excellent DCM who's only 23 all positives. Finding a decent striker is a perennial issue and not just for QPR.

Personally I like Saito and think Dembele shows promise. Fullbacks an issue but when did we last have two excellent FBs who we owned playing regularly?

Still has to prove himself more but has he really recruited that badly compared to previous execs

Sensible and balanced post Nix.
Most of the signings are the right age and developing very nicely.
Lack of Forwards clearly an issue with the injuries but good that Kolli has stepped up.
Better communication on injuries which are clearing up at last.
Kept faith with Marti and the coaches which is now paying dividends.
Things are looking positive for (most) supporters.

Granted, the forward signings have been less than good, but Nardi, Varane, Morgan and Morrison have been excellent signings.

To be fair, I don’t think many of the signings were brought in to start games, largely they’re here to give us a better bench, they’re young and would have slowly been introduced to the first team. I’d say only Nardi, Dembele and possibly Madsen were brought in to start. Sadly we were quickly decimated by injuries to first team regulars and they’ve all had to play far sooner than intended.

We’ve had a successful first half of 2024 under this regime and a poor second half although that has presently improved. It’ll be interesting to see if the club fall back on the recent improvement as a cushion for the rest of the season, which might easily backfire, or try to do something about CF in Jan and be better set up for the start of next season.

Now is not really the time to be pulling against the existing club structure.

Exactly this. We have a decent manager who has found a way to get the best out of an unbalanced squad. It doesn't take much delving into press conferences over recent weeks to see that all is not well between Cifuentes and Noory. At one point it's likely that one of them will have to go. There's only one answer to that for me, and I wonder how many clubs would be interested in taking Nourry on board whenever he does leave.

We have lost 2 in 12, are unbeaten in 7, and have only conceded 2 goals during that time. All this with a plethora of injuries. We are much better off than last season and have some really good younger players improving and contributing to the squad.

Nourry isn't perfect, but come on, do we really need to be placing the blame so harshly for a few decisions that some don't agree with? I for one am finally enjoying watching QPR at the moment and that's where I personally draw the line.

There's no need for a scapegoat right now, and if we are honest, no football club is perfect. Give the bloke a little more time is what I say.

You may prove right about Nourry in the long term, but the issues with this CEO are not only about player recruitment. His communication (or rather the lack of it) strategy has pee'd off a large section of the fans and he appears to have shut down Cifuentes' engagement with this site and the supporters evening. That's control freakery which, in my experience, always rings alarm bells.

Where are the "Nourry out" comments now ??? on 22:32 - Dec 21 by BrianMcCarthy

Absolutely shocking summer of recruitment in my opinion, Numpty.

Totally unbalanced, inexperienced squad. Left us in the bottom three for half the season and we've only just gotten out.

Off the field his leadership has been chaotic and naive.

Unfortnately, just as I don't trust the club to adequately replace our outgoing players, I don't trust them to adequately replace Nourry either.

So, for now, I'm just happy that we've played well today. Let's hope it continues in the short term. In the medium to long term I'm still dreaming of the club being run in a professional and competent manner and that would include a change of ownership and the new owners appointing an experienced CEO and an experienced and seperate DoF.

Great post.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

i think we also need to look at the players who left the club in the Summer, how many of these were goods decisions, how many would we want to have back now?

“Absolutely shocking summer of recruitment”

Maybe that might have seemed that way a few months back Brian but is an odd thing to say now.
Some have understandably taken a while to settle but the hits outweigh the misses in my opinion and that’s showing on the pitch.

Nardi, Morrison, Varane, Saito, Morgan have all been excellent. Dembele and Bennie have shown good potential. All of those bar Nardi are young players. Celar, Madsen and Santos still have work to do to convince.

Main mistake was selling and not replacing Dykes and leaving us short up front.

You don't sell/release Willock, Armstrong and Dykes and dont sign Hayden with the expectation that your new signings won't be starters.
Maybe Morgan and Morrison, but that just highlights how unbalanced the squad is.

Nourry is getting away with it as MC has sacrificed style over substance. To play the QPR way which he banged on about (or implied) means the squad still needs a massive overhaul again next summer.

Very balanced conversation. Enjoyed catching up with it.

Some players have worked out nicely, some haven't, some might yet. I think that's fair to say, as it was fair to say under Ferdinand.

But the squad is chronically unbalanced in teerms of positional strength and style(s), and that's my concern. And that, imo, along with the injuries, is the main reason we've spent half a season playing poor football and propping up the division.

Usually there is only one or two changes incoming/outgoing in the January window.

But if we can get a couple different full backs and perhaps with Cook out, another solid centre back, then perhaps the only other required addition could be a number nine.

We got rid of Dozzell and reasonable money in for Dykes and Armstrong.

I guess the proof is within the long term effects.

A lot of the new players could potentially work over a longer period. We shall see.

We have a tendency in this modern age to have the pitchforks if success is not instant (also applies to the new government). The reality of anyone coming into any new role is they will make mistakes and in the real world that is how you learn and get better at what you do. There is good and there is bad in the recruitment, you can't right all the wrongs in a single transfer window when you have small budget. The issues are less in what we have but in what we dont have. I dont think Marti is without fault in the start either and by sticking with him we have enabled him to correct those mistakes and find a way. I see no reason to change anything at the moment. We need to focus on contract renewals now, and tie down Kolli, Dunne, Cook and Chair for extension. and recruit for a left back and another forward

I'd like to agree about the contract renewals but the thing is, because Nourry doesn't want to communicate about them, we may never know one way or another until players depart. The players you mention may even have had their contracts renewed already.

It was too early to judge Nourry and still is, typical of fans in general to be so reactionary. The reality is the new signings have really started to settle in and for all the criticism aimed at Nourry for the awful start then being fair deserves some credit for a turn around, and that in general the signings are starting to look fairly good, with some exceptions.

Still a very odd decision to start with just 2 seniors Forwards with 1 Championship goal between them, would like to hear an explanation of how that happened.

Let’s judge Nourry end of the season.
