Cheating Preston (Northern) Bastardos.
Back in the day (black and white and running stupidly quickly), they would have stopped the game, disallowed the goal and all shook hands. Cook would have had a bucket of cold water chucked in his leg and finished the game as there were no poncy substitutions like today.

And from my view in SAR, it looked like the Preston forward fouled Cook and I gave the ref a right volley of abuse accordingly.
However, seeing the incident from the other side (video pictures) I got that completely wrong. I apologise to the ref for that (alone.)
Totally legitimate for the Preston guy to continue and score, no problem with that at all.

Soft tissue issue in the sole of his foot according to Marti. There is no way Cook is going down like he was shot in that location for a soft tissue injury in his feet. It looked like a tendon snap either hamstring or the career threatening achilles but hopefully its soft issue .
You cannot possibly replace his leadership and experience but we do have cover back there at least .

I like it because it means when we get the reverse, we can just carry on. Some player goes down with banged head, ref waves play on, we score and win the game (the key difference here).
The Oppo team goes nuts. Marti afterwards says, "Well, I understand that their upset, but the same happened to us against PNE. PNE played on, scored, and we lost our captain to injury. That's the champ."
The bit Marti won't mention is that we went on to win that game so, the only bad thing about that goal was Cooks injury.
And then the oppo will have to suck it up and we get the win (which is the difference that won't be mentioned) :p |  |
